    Here's the thing. It's great that you do your own work and save money. I think most of us work on our own stuff here. But there are reasons why you need to pull a proper vacuum before you add refrigerant. When AC oil mixes with moisture, it becomes acidic. That can cause an early death for your compressor and cost way more to fix than just the line. The moisture can also freeze in the lines, cause oil sludge, and plug critical orifices. The fact that your system has lost pressure more than once indicates that it may have moisture in it already (before you replaced the hose). So, what we really are doing here is trying to save you money. I am just drawing the ugly picture to make it clearer.

    @Bebop

    We kissed and made out plenty of times, and I did some things that I will not mention publicly, but I stopped communicating with her after probably less than a month of dating her.

    Seriously...

    I am holding onto my Tacoma because I don't want payments. Child support is even worse than car payments!

    30 min for the hose my guy. The machine he has did the rest.

    Why does refilling a truck with this crap seem so unrealistic to you??

    I think you meant to say it took 30 minutes to R&R the line. Then pulled a vacuum and recharged. Right?

    Took 30min to replace the line & then we hooked it up to his machine. He has a some machine that he uses at his shop to release the air & refill the refrigerant. We literally hooked up 2 hoses, H & then L & the machine did the work. At the end we unhooked the H & refilled the truck up with the refrigerant lol

    I think @Bebop is concerned about the proper capturing and recycling of the R134a refrigerant.

    If you just released it into the atmosphere thats a big no no as far as the EPA is concerned. Though R134a isn't ozone destroying its still a greenhouse gas. Then again we also release greenhouse gases every time we exhale so *shrugs*.

    Refilling takes longer because you need to pull a vacuum on the system to evacuate all the atmosphere and moisture that was let into the system. This process alone is normally 30 min or so. Then you should leave the vacuum on the system for like 24 hours to make sure the leak is fixed prior to recharging the system.

    I am not going to assume one way or the other unless you came on here and straight up admitted you released the refrigerant into the atmosphere.
