We have a 11 Toyota Tacoma w/Access Cab 4 cylinder. The a/c will prematurely cycle (compressor on & off) on a regular basis. Have been to dealer at 4 times now, 1st response was automatic shutoff when on an incline (but it does it on a flat road) because of 4 cyl engine. Second time it was low on freon, so they added some. Still not right, took it back and they added dye. Took back today and they say everything meets Toyota specs and freon is fine. Has anyone had this kind of a problem with their a/c?

welcome to TW! The A/C compressor wioll shut off under wide open throttle, and when its in use, it will cycle on/off as pressure demands dictate. Sounds all normal to me.

I understand what you are saying, however it is not cooling the truck properly.

low refrigerant pressure will do this.

double-check 'low pressure port' pressure when engine is
running, should build up between 30-40 psi...below 30 psi
    it will cycle like that....

if pressure is fine, system needs major work (well, minor work...
but the whole dash has to come apart to fix any of this crap)

My a/c has always left a lot to be desired. I have had 10 year old cars that will freeze your butt cheeks to the seat, and brand new off the lot this truck a/c struggles to keep me cool even on a not so hot day. I have never bothered to take it in to get it looked at, so I have no idea why mine is that way.

On hot days mine doesn't cool the interior very well. Its been like this since I bought it new.
