My A/C crapped out last week or so on the way back from turkey hunting (it was about 85 70% humidity). I went through all the normal stuff, checked freon and mgn clt relay, checked clutch. So I know my clutch isn't running but the relay is fine. The wheel for the compressor is spinning just not the clutch. So how do I make sure it's the clutch, not the whole compressor? I think I've read if it's the compressor then the whole thing will lock up but I'm not sure.

Plenty of AC info here on TW. I spent a lot of time with the " search forum " tool which you will learn how to test each component as I did. To much to write all over again if I could remember it all buts its all here .

Toyota mechanic says it is not unusual for a A/C Relay to go bad. In his example he switched it out with the horn relay to test it, fuse box under the hood. Good luck!

Yeah sadly it wasnt that easy. But luckily it wasnt the whole compressor, it was the magnetic clutch. It was all gunked up and a little rusty from off roading and getting submerged. But it was only a $75 repair and some busted knuckles so its all good.
