On my way to work this morning my A/C re-circulation button turned off by itself about every 2-4 minutes allowing fresh air in. I didn't have the air or heat on. I had the recirc button lit and about every 3 min the light would go off and allow fresh air in. My Maint Req light has been on for a day or so but I doubt that has anything to do with this.

    Any ideas?

If it was for the Defrost setting, I belive the a/c switches itself from "fresh" to "recirc" every so often.

I think only the newer ones do this. Mines an '07, and it doesnt. I think it started on the '09's and up.

    Oh ok - I haven't used defrost on my 2011 so that's why I haven't noticed. My other 2nd gen was a 2007...makes sense.

What is this "mannyouwell" you speak of?!

    Didn't know that either....

What is the need to allow freash air in with the use of the Defrost....I always felt the defrost worked better without the recirc. ?

Humm... I didn't have it on defrost. Fan switch was in the off position - temp dial was on cool - directional set to face with the "recirc" button lit. Also, the back sliding window was open.

I've been driving to work like this for the past week or so and this is the first time I've noticed the "recirc" button switch to "fresh" by itself.

You can hold the recirculation button down for 2-3 seconds to disable the auto off. However it enables itself everytime you restart the engine so you'll need to hold it down again if you want it to remain on.

Thanks guys. Call me lazy - but it's easier asking you guys then climbing up and down 3 flights of stairs to get to the manual in my truck.

As a side note - This function is also related to why you cannot swap older overhead consoles with 09+ vehicles without an additional temp sensor wired in. Two steps forward one step back. It does work well though.

What a pain in the butt to have to do this every time you drive your truck. I hate it when it decides to open the vent when behind some stinky diesel at an intersection.

if you have it on recirc and the outside temp drops below 50 degrees it will automatically switch itself to fresh...if you push the recirc button and hold it for 3 seconds it will stay on recirc....but you have to do it everytime you turn the switch off.
