A/C suddenly blows hot air

The A/C on my 2003 Tacoma works fine but suddenly starts blowing hot air. I can turn the dial to full hot then back to full cold and it starts blowing cold air again. It might stay cold OR it might go to blowing hot air again. Any ideas what the fix is? Thanks

 

throw the manifold gauges on see what your dealing with pressure wise.

It sounds like the outside of the Evap coil is freezing shutting the system off allows it to melt .

 

Blend door actuator.. It's a small little servo motor that controls the flap that mixes hot and cold air. Increasingly common issue on these trucks, see my response to a similar question a few days ago: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/1st-gen-more-climate-control-s.799886/#post-28663630

yep. ive got the exact same thing going on, so do several other people. still wating to see if this is my problem when it comes back to me from the shop.

the other big suggestion im getting on this comes from here at TW as well & is teh expansion valve.

sounds like a blend door issue to me.

 

Check out my thread... Mines fixed. So far.

 

i need to get someone to throw some gauges on mine now that I think about it.

 

The blend door actuator has been replaced but did not fix the problem.

 

Did you check out my thread on this other issue a lot of people have?
