I can try to post a pic of the plate when I get home from work but all the other info I'm not sure on. The guy said he took a handheld multi meter and checked the motor and relays to see if the numbers jumped I guess to see if there was a short or something.

You have a duct-less unit (split system)... do they have a filter on the inside unit? Is it clean?

Also need to know if this unit is a heat pump or straight cool system?

Do you have a lot of moister on the AC vents during hot times?

I am wondering if maybe there could be some duct leakage pulling in hot air before the coil that could create lost cooling capacity ?

You said you have crawl space under the house?

do you know if either one of the fans have been replaced?

It is a split system and its a heat pump. I just have a filter in my hallway that I replace every month or so. The AC guy called me back today and he said since it doesn't freeze up when the fan is ON all the time, he thinks it's a relay switch. He said it's a delay switch and when it's supposed to switch over to run sometimes it doesn't and that's why it's freezing up. He's supposed to come tomorrow or Monday after the relay comes in. We shall see. Any info in the mean time would be helpful as well and I will try to get you guys as much info as I can.

When the outside unit turns on does the line freeze up in a few minutes or does it take a while to freeze over.
If it freezes over really quickly in less than 2-5 minutes it's very likely the indoor fan isn't coming on and it's freezing up from that, could be a relay, capacitor, fan motor or other things.

Your bill will be higher out if it's hotter out, the little blower shouldn't use to much power. Do you know how to read wiring diagrams and how to use or do you have a nice multi meter?

If your good with a multi meter I can walk you through it and only cost you parts, but you should call a dude if you don't feel comfortable doing it and I take no liability if you get fried or tear something up.

The AC repair man came out last week and replaced the relay and he called me and said that the unit didn't come on like it should unless it was "satisfied" inside the house. I came home from work and didn't have any air blowing even with the fan in the ON position on the thermostat. I called him and he said "Really?" He said give me about 30 minutes and I'm coming back to you. He went under the house and checked the breaker and reaplaced the breaker under the house. After he switched that out a couple seconds later, the unit came on and has been working without a problem ever since(knock on wood).

Mine was doing the same thing, the fan wouldn't come on all the time. My sequencers were bad and stick. The sequencer controls when the fan comes on mostly for when the call for the heat strips to come on in winter. They are wired in line with the fan relay. I could cut the system off and let it reset and it would work great for a while and then suddenly the indoor fan wouldn't come on when the call for cooling but the outside unit would run for a while and freeze up then kick out on high head pressure. I changed out the defrost board outside, control board for the indoor unit, fan relay etc etc. I got all my parts under warranty. I finally tested the sequencer and sure enough is was no good.
