Youre right, forgot, my 370z never did that either. But hondas and toyota's do. Let's be honest, those are what we think of when we think Japanese cars. Mitsu's and Nissans, eh :/

But to your question, nothing is wrong with your AC ducts or dash. This is normal.

This might blow your mind, but air comes out the far passenger side vent, too!
It's in the Owners Manual, there is always air flow from the side dash vents. nothing new as toyota and many other vehicles have done it for years.

No, it's not in the manual. And as mentioned, this is the first vehicle I've had that ever did this.

Its amazing what a person might learn reading the manual instead of creating a post about it.

Because you can't use recirculate AND defrost at the same time, and this only would bother me in winter with really hot air coming out of that vent.

Try "syncing" your heat output... ie: both temps the same....
Those outside vents are used to give differing temps for each side....
When you set them the same, you should get even heat out of all 4 vents, not just those 2...
Try it... you might like it...!

Have you tried closing the vent or directing the air away from your hand?

Yup floor or defrost + floor or defrost. Always air there. I have to take it in for a few things we ordered anyway so will have them check it.
