Just noticed recently it may take me a few tries of turning on the fan switch for the a/c to kick in.

I’ll turn it on and it will blow warm air. Turn it off for 10 mins and try again. And it works.

    Any ideas where to start

Does the A/C light flash when it doesn't work?

Start by swapping the magnetic clutch relay with another relay.

    MG CLT is the relay.

It's likely your compressor, but start with the easy things.
