I’ve got a 2007 and I need to know what the part is called for my truck. When I use my A/C the windshield gets fog on it. I know it’s got to due with the doors in the duct work not opening and shutting right. Does anyone know the name of it and how hard is it to change ? Sorry this is my first Toyota Tacoma that I’ve owned since 1994. I’m used to driving Chevy but made the switch about 4 months ago. Thanks for the help.

Are you running it in the recirc mode or fresh air?
The other round button to the right of the ac controls it.
When you switch to defrost it should turn recirc off.

welcome to TW by the way.

Is it fogging on the inside or outside?, if it's outside that's fairly normal on a humid day as on Tacoma's there's always a little air coming out of the defrost no matter which setting you have it on.

That I honestly don’t know. I know I have it turned all the way up and on the face mode. Also the a/c light is on and there is a light to the right of that button is on also.

Try pushing that button on the right of the AC button hopefully that helps.

Almost looks like your heater core is leaking.

That looks to be outside, turn your wipers on and see if they wipe it. Mine does that too on cooler humid days, not sure why but 2nd gen Tacoma's always put some air out the defrost vents regardless of control position.
If you want you can verify operation of the actuators as shown below but I suspect they are if your modes change properly.

    Blend door travel.

The temperature actuator can be seen by removing the glovebox and floor duct, the duct is a little tricky to get off but pretty easy once you figure it out.

The notch on the actuator shaft should line up with the mark on the actuator body as shown in the picture below.

Recirc door should also be open as shown with the recirc button on.

    Closed (Recirc off)

    Open (Recirc on)

    All stock, baby!
Another thing to check is your AC drain tube. If it is not allowing the collected moisture to drain out of the system, you could get this. You will usually smell a slight mustiness if this is the case, and the window fogging will show up when you get back in the car and first turn the fan on (with or without AC on).

If it is your heater core, that usually has an associated sickly sweet smell, and if you run your fingers over that moisture, it doesn’t feel like just water. But that problem usually shows up in a much more grand fashion.

But looking at your picture again, the moisture is highlighting the fine scratches in your windshield caused by the windshield wipers. Please let us know about this, it really does look like it’s on the outside. If it is, shift the vent controls to the dash vents or the floor or a combination of the two. That should eliminate it.

It’s a combination of both on the windshield. It’s outside and a little bit inside. An honestly I don’t ever remember seeing any water dripping from the outside of my truck. Guess I need to pay better attention to that part as well. I honestly don’t smell anything at anytime they are. With or without the a/c running. What side should the water be dripping from ? I know of a Chevy truck it’s the passenger side up front. But any ways the frog is definitely on the outside like you said plus a little bit on the inside. More on the outside then inside for sure. I appreciate all you guys help and I mean that too. Much appreciated help. Thank you

Sounds fairly normal then if it's fogging outside, it's just from the defrost air making the windshield cold in that area and the moisture in the air condensing on it.

The A/C drain is under the hood on the passenger side, it's just a piece of hose sticking out of the firewall. I'll try to remember to snap a pic of it next time I'm at my truck.
