Working our way back up in the light revealed some good washouts.

And views that we’d missed in the dark. Even with the power lines, I look forward to returning here.

Lots of switchbacks, some of the trail thru some large growth cedar, just a beauty of a trail!

This area gets around 45-50’ of snow annually. Lots of snowmobile traffic up here thru the winter.

As we were making our way towards the switchbacks to the FSR, we came upon a bunch of local kids that had had an oops with their SxS. No phone reception. No radio. No parents knowing where they actually were. Keep in mind, this is prime Griz country, at a time when they’re looking to fatten up for winter!:rofl:we gave them a hand to get this thing able to drive, threw the girls in with Matt and his wife in the LC, and they headed for the kids homes as fast as they could, while we worked our way there with the broken SxS:D

And that was pretty much the end of that trip, by the time we got the kids home.

And then having to change it, when I had a blowout at 125kmh:annoyed:funny enough, the tires are so stiff, it really didn’t change the handling that much:D

I got started at some re-work/modification I’d been planning. So next trip happened to be in December, to go hit the winter trail at Waiporous area.

And pick up a set of 36x15.5-16” Mickey Thompson MTZ’s. Cause snowshoe

It was the first day of the tear where we saw -20c temps and lower. Pretty good for Alberta.

While I was waiting on the rest of the crew at one point, this beauty FJ40 rolled past. I need one of these in my life.

It’s not a long trail. At the west end, you actually meet the eastern Banff park boundary. It’s not far to Banff townsite from here.

The falls trail, as it’s known, isn’t long or tough, until the ice ledges start to form, and the river starts to back up. I’ve seen guys swamped in here before. Last winter, 2019/20, there was 20+ broken down or stuck in the valley at one point, as we had quite a bit of snow, and some extreme cold.

It’s basically a gravel road, with a ton of picturesque river crossings:cool:

And that was it for 2020 wheeling trips. Along the way, I cooked my transmission. I decided it was time to cut some weight. The logger box got swapped for a conventional box. And there’s been a lot done since, all shown on my build thread.

For a quick shakedown run, we hit old faithful, Ruby falls again. I’m stoked with how the truck is working. And I shed around 600+ lbs.
