Whereabouts in ‘berta are you from?

 

We made it in, and set up camp. It was miserable, wet, and we had to use a tiger torch to keep the fire going. It was awesome! There was a solid 6-10” of snow freshly fallen that day, and it was a blast to drive in!

I’m up in red deer. Try to avoid Waiparous as much as I can! It’s so crowded most of the time!!

 

And we woke up to this Saturday morning. Photo credit is my buddy Peter.

 

We headed out, and back to the staging area, and loaded up, ready to head south to the next trail.

thanks! Next summer I’m hoping to pack something other than an iPhone camera.

 

I used to think I wanted a nicer camera, but honestly the cell phone cameras are so good these days, it's hard for me to justify.

 

I won’t disagree with you. But the couple photos with the depth are from a couple friends shooting real cameras. And you can see the difference. It’s just a bit, but it’s sure clean.

 

Oh yeah, you can totally notice a difference. It's just that when I think about how much $$ it'd take to get a nice camera, that's a TON of beer, or mods for the truck. I'm just one of those "goodenuff" type guys.

Ok, slight modification to the lens, in that I used my telescope... lol...

 

We headed south, to nordegg. And at the gas station, Dave discovered a few problems, with the 4runner. Loose shock, missing the lower bolt, and a missing vent line on the front diff. He’d had the diff serviced several weeks prior, and the shop missed throwing the vent back on. So, he headed home. The rest of us continued south to an old trail I’d been meaning to chase.

 

that’s truly amazing! And yea. You’re right. Unless I get a wicked camera in trade for something, the iPhone will likely do for some time to come!!

 

And the trail wound up kinda running out. So we found a spot on the river bank, got a fire going, enjoyed the rain, and the company, and called it a night.

 

The old lease road has seen better days. And this spot was a rough one for the jeeps and their wonton axles. I sneaked thru, with several inches to spare, but there was no way they were making it. So, we stacked rocks enough for the boys to climb over. Some days I miss my big Jeep, but I do t miss the trailer, and the fact that it was a pos.

 

We hit the staging area, and the big boys loaded up and headed northeast for town, while Peter and I continued south for Calgary.

 

Man, completely forgot to drop a pic of Ruby falls. The whole reason we went in. My apologies!! And like further south, where we were so close to Banff, at this point, we were only 100 yards or so from jasper park boundary

Me too!! This is just the beginning tho!! Next trips coming are all in the best province!! The one I was born and raised in, and that still holds my heart. You ever play in the east koots? If not, you oughta come out this summer!
