A+ wasn't to tough. They have changed the test since I took it in 2008 and I hear its harder now than it was. Some of the questions are just common sense others are a little more difficult. Make sure to know how a laser printer works, there was a few questions on different CPU socket types, etc.

I got the book for the new one I am about 1/2 through it. It seems to be mostly common sense. i am just worried about the specifics like all of the Acronymns and that kinda thing.

The 701 might as well be as up to date as possible.

I took it last month, thought of taking the 701 but its the same crap certification is still valid for life.
If you decide to take the 601 and 602 let me know.

    I really reaaaally recommend this:
http://certways.com/ best $39 bucks you'll spend studying for the test
    ;):spy:

Most questions I got were for:
1- Types of cables & speed (usb, rj45, rj11 etc etc)
2- Types of ports (usb, parallel (ieee1284), serial and ieee1394 firewire)
    3- troubleshooting printer installation
4- How to respond to costumer's questions and situations you might encounter on a job
    6- Types of RAM modules
    7- Wireless Speed (802.11B/G/N, bluetooth)

They still allow you to take 601 and 602? I thought those were retired when 701 came out.

yes they still allow it, I think they will be eliminated by the end of this month if I remember correctly. I took both 601 and 602 last month.

Edit, From their website (referring to the 601)

I wouldn't really waste your time on that one. The Network+ cert doesn't really carry any weight anymore. Especially with the million of CCNA's out there.

You would be better off going after the CCENT if your looking for entry level, or the CCNA.

Well that would be a good reason then.

The CCNA can be had pretty cheap. The composite test is only $250, and you can pick up the Cisco Press books for around $50-80 (for the pair).
