A different approach to rear shock relocation

Mmmmmm shiny King bypasses...

 

I have absolutely no issues with how my 255/70 5125s ride with my Dakars, but I'm running a completely different setup with a nearly completely different truck. If I had any, I'd lay down money that the only way the rear of my truck would ride better would be to get rid of the leaf springs and go to coilovers and links then go through the nightmare of tuning the coilovers and getting the anti-squat where I liked it best. I'm saving that particular unpleasantness for if I ever get a rock buggy.

 

its not necessarily needed for what i do. I wanted a quick solution for my wheel spacer dilemma and what I did worked perfectly. Not knocking the bed cage idea but my rear end articulates and rides great and thats all i wanted lol. Im done with the rear for now and concentrating on front end SAS parts now

 

Ahhh yes not building a desert “woop eater” . If you start hitting things at speed you would see that the rebound is too slow so it makes the rear end “pack up “ and not drop out fast enough.

for a Crawler I don’t think that’s an issue at all.

I'm having trouble finding the Ford part in Canada. Does anyone if the Dorman 523-054 is the same?

 

So to revive this a bit, I got bored, cut out the Ford shock towers and brace, and built a mini bed cage anyways… here some pics to simplify what I did
