A different approach to rear shock relocation

In all of this, I forgot to mention, that what you have done with the shock relocate is pretty bad ass! It's nice to see another alternative, and +1 on the ingenuity of adapting what was already out there and posting it for others.

 

Chevy 63" and ford shock towers. I feel like I am back on Pirate4x4 circa 2001.

 

Good or bad lol.

 

Ford ran these towers in the front end with 2 rivets not fully welded and plug welded where the factory rivet would go. Most of the time when I was researching the towers before ordering them for frank was some of the older trucks like the samurai, they were tearing the frame so they put a plate on the frame then welded the towers. No one ever braced the back from what I found.

 

Anyone looking to go this route, I have some shocks for sale that will work with this set up, (12" of travel)

Does the top of the tire hit the shock when fully compressed? I can't tell how far outboard the shock is (next to the bed) from your pictures.

 

Thread revival. How are these? You had these for several months now. Do they pair up well with the 63's? What is limiting your travel now the shocks or springs?

Thanks Garrett. I have. I believe this is what Ryan is doing.

 

No issues and love them. Only thing I must advise is having a offset wheel or you need to cut the angle out of the mount and adjust it in some. I slightly rub the shock body when stuffed.

 

Not the 63's. Just the relocate. Am I right @Sub-Zero ?

What wheels are you using?

 

Scs sr8 wheels. 17x8.5 and 1.25" g2 spacers

 

I'm doing this shock relocate. 63s will be a project for 6/12 months from now
