Yeah I think the reliability thing worries me a little, since my truck is an 05. And I do plan on making a 5000 mile road trip this April. I've done a ton of work to it, but have i replaced everything? No. Will I replace stuff that isn't broken for the sake of replacing them? No. So that does leave me with some "what ifs". And as far as needs, it performs all of the tasks I need it to. But a newer 1/2 ton will perform them better, with a little less white knuckle. I do think I will hold strong right now but the gears are still turning.

Gen 1 tundras defiantly look the best, IMO each successive gen gets more ugly than the last.

I have seen 3 different people buy 3 different new trucks with in the past 2 maybe 3 months.

    1. Chevy 2500 crew cab Z71 heavy on options
    2. Chey 1500 crew cab Z71 well optioned
    3. Ram HD not sure which model crew cab very well optioned might even be a diesel

I don't know any of these people but all three of them are business owners.

If you are wondering who is out there buying trucks right now.

Toyota and other manufacturers lost revenue in countries out side of the western hemisphere where they had to cease production.

No way the 3rd gen Tundra, too early in the run and lots of problems. Vehicles are like tools, you don't trade them in unless they don't fill your needs.

My neighbor went from a tundra to a tundra to a tundra to a gmc full size something. He said it was a big mistake. He owns a construction company and does big truck stuff.

If you plan to wait, too long a wait could leave you with only plug in options or used.

I think if it's just an occasional need for a larger truck, a older beater would be my choice.

It's funny to me cause I bought a new '07 Tundra 5.7 l double cab SR5 when they were knocking $6k off the sticker price cause they weren't moving. A v6 Taco SR5 would have cost more at the time.

But yea, right now is not a good time to buy, new or used. Toyota's planned pricehike is a drop in the bucket compared to current dealer markups. Used Tacos today are worth as much as what their window stickers asked for years ago.
