I changed all the fluids in the diffs , transmission and transfer case to Redline products over the summer. I only used the 4X4 a couple of times last winter..but have used it already this year.
Anyway...I noticed a noise in the drivetrain this year using the 4X4. I honestly don't remember if it made the noise last year. It only happens when the 4X4 is engaged and applying throttle. if it coasts or on the brakes..no noise. And no noise in 2WD. Is that normal ?
I used Redline MT90 in the transmission, and everything else got 75-90 NS GL5 grade Redline.

There will be more noise in 4x4 since the transfer case and front axle are now under load , however , as Door Ding mentioned, there could be a lot of reasons for the out of the ordinary noise and a professional opinion or Free test drive would help .

I beleive the owners manual indicates it,s a good idea to use 4x4 once / month to keep things lubed up

^^ that statement in the manual has given me a free kitchen pass a month to go off-roading...

    woohoo!!!

    realistically...

a "noise" doesn't say much...get it checked out if your not sure..but yes having it in 4x4 will be noisier because now the drive train directly under your seat is engaged and rotating. I can tell when mine is engaged, but usually only because of the "clunk" when it engages. (and the fact I'm hearing impaired doesn't help!)
