Since Cali has no waiting period on missing persons reports, and all law enforcement are required to accept such reports, it would seem he'd be there if there was a report filed with the police.

As far as your 'why' question about fakery, there's lots of possible reasons.

Hi all. For anyone that is curious, this story did not end well. Andy was found deceased in his 4runner facing the ocean and had apparently been that way for quite some time.
