Having spent more time in the 2010 this week I've noticed a few things that are different from my 2014, 2.7. My 2010 Tacoma has 57K on the ticker currently.

    1) The HAVC blower motor has a constant chirp or whirrrrrr whirrrrrr sound on all settings. Sounds like a mouse on an exercise wheel. Does this mean the blower motor is failing? or can I get in there with some WD-40 and stop the noise. It's not incredibly loud, and could be currently drowned out with the radio, but it is at a frequency that is extremely annoying.

    2) The brakes don't seem stop the truck nearly as well as my '14, 2.7, DC, but that's not fair to compare a truck with 57Kmiles to one with 2K miles. It just seems like it's everything I can do to get it stopped at times. There appears to be plenty of pad life up front though.

    3) I can feel a slight knock in the steering from time to time, generally at parking lot speeds when turning etc...It almost feels like a worn ball-joint. Seeing that the truck is a PreRunner, I doubt the truck was beat on Off-Road, also there are none of the usual signs of that like mud caked under the truck.

At 57K, what servicing should I do to this truck. I will be handing it over to a new employee in two-weeks, and want it as mechanically sound as humanly possible for him. I was thinking about changing trans and rear diff fluid as a start. The oil looks fresh (very light yelloe/gold) but dealer was no help on if it was changed by service dept prior to sale.

Lastly, truck runs very good overall, but there is this intermittent thunk or shift that happens when sitting at a stop light still. It happens about 15-20 seconds after completing a full stop, while you have your foot on the brake. One of my closest friends drives an '05 Sport, DC, V6 with 115K miles, and he says his truck has always done the same since he purchased it used with 34K miles on it. However, my 2014, 2.7, DC PreRunner is buttery smooth all the time, so that's why the V6 truck is alarming when it happens.

I realize my 2014 & 2010 have different transmissions, 4-spd .vs 5-spd autos. So some characteristics are going to be different.

Does the "thunk" disappear when the A/C is turned off? The V6's have quite a bit more torque and when the A/C is on, at a stop, you will experience a lurch/thunk. Check into that and see what you find. I know if I press the brake pedal harder, it will eliminate any lurch experienced from the A/C.
