-I already know this is likely a retarded question so feel free to laugh, but is anyone using their old motor oil as a rust inhibitor and if not why not? I was always noticing how the oil pan of my old F150 was in showroom condition while the rest of the truck was rotting away.

-Are applications like fluid film applied once in the late fall and then not again until the next fall, or are they done a couple of times a year?

-Does anyone rinse the underside of their vehicles in the winter after applying fluid film? Im assuming it would likely wash it off and be counterproductive but in the Northeast the road salt is crazy and Im tempted to hose off the underside occasionally anyway.

-What do guys do under the hood? My F150 had so much corrosion under the hood that fasteners and parts, brackets, hose clamps, etc were corroded away. (I showed pics to people and they were shocked. Im a good 5 miles from any salt water, so we dont really experience any salt air other than the rare sea breeze) Cant just spray the engine bay with fluid film right? Id imagine itd just burn off and create a lot of smoke?

Fluid film works great for the under carriage , so does cosmoline which is more a waxy coating so it ends up a little more cleaner . Areas of the engine compartment you can use a product called mavcoat or a even a armor all type dressing . Then at end of season wipe clean and re coat / fasteners just a light coating of WD 40 is all you need
