A full year with my 4th gen here's the good and bad.

This coming Sunday will be a full year with my white 24 offroad manual and 38500km. Just to start this is my 6th Tacoma but first manual and between the 6 I have probably put on a million kms. So here goes at first with the manual I thought I felt a weird feeling in the clutch when I was down shifting sometimes but think I have learned it is the engine braking. I have owned a lot of manual toy cars so I would like to think I am a pretty good manual driver but its just a completely different experiance. I am not a big fan of the two toned seats I have a few stains but goes in for a detail in a few weeks that will remove them. This year I will add some seat covers. I do think the truck is the best driving one of the bunch I know its not much bigger then my 3rd gens but it does feel bigger to me. I have had a couple back surgeries and I do like the seating position much better then my previous trucks. I like the power train much more then the 3.5/4.0 even though it sounds like a farm tractor. I do think it is the best looking model so far but that is just my personnel opinion. Now for a few things that I am not super happy about. The tpms screen does continue to switch to the trip every so often not sure if the 25's do that as well. The other day for the first time my main screen is boost on the left compass on the right and the compass just vanished and couldn't find it in the screen selection but did return once I stopped and restarted the truck. The bedside caps that lift up a bit is a bit of an annoyance maybe when it warms up I will try to add some tape to the under side of them. At 2500km I put on 285 70 17 Toyo open countries and 2 of them are completely worn out already. Next time I am at the dealer I will see if it is out of align I have hit a few large pot holes. My biggest gripe is the paint right away I started noticing chips on the quarter panel so I got my buddy to take off the stock ppf and bring it up about another 6" still not enough it needs to come up right to cover half of the gas flap which I will do in a few weeks when it goes into his shop. First there needs to be a fair bit of touch ups done and then buff it to try to make it looks as good as it can before applying the new ppf. But overall I am very happy with the new truck and will keep it for a couple more years.

 

Not so prone to chips seems to be another benefit with my same color but long bed. We did a whole lot of testing competitors and some close associates have them. That's given me patience for the minor shortcomings with my pickup. Even though any 5 or 5.5 ft bed would be near useless to me, the Tacomas still stand out as good against the competition.

For the annoying light seat color, the SRS warning prompted me getting air bag compatible covers. I should maybe use them more often LOL.
