Nitrogen is inert, so it will not actually explode. The liquid boiling to a gas in a sealed container will create a pressurized rupture in the container, thus, explosion. Now, if you had some liquid oxygen, you could create an impressive explosion.

I got it for my kids science fair project. I got it for free, there are lots of companies that use it up here for oilpatch work. Anyways, kids are done with their science fair experiment and it is time for old dad to have some fun.

wait till the video, might be entertaining besides, I think that they are only illegal in certain places (like dry ice high pressure container ruptures :anonymous:)

I know at least some of those places they are illegal if they are used with intent to damage/destroy/ hurt people, and things.

The next one that I build (dry ice) is going to have a thick 2 liter, filled with hot water, a tied to a cinder block....and dropped into about 100 feet of water to watch the eruption of bubbles....

Just got to my comp. As far as the "Explosion" goes......Nothing really exciting is gonna happen. Now.....however.....If you want to do something cool, get some sodium metal, about 1 pound, and drop it in a swimming pool. :)

What it's one of those salt water swimming pools?

And it'd be a lot more interesting to drop it in the tank where the chlorine is :D

Full rebuild short of machine work, mean green motherfucker! Lime green block, hand-polished valve cover, and stickers! Too broke for real mods right now. Stonewall is my baby, but he's also a work truck.
