I hope it works out for you but..... Do you have the aftermarket stero equipment insured? I had the same thing happen to me and ins would not cover it- would only replace back to factory equip since I never added additional coverage. I had $4700 in stero equip with head unit/ subs/amp- Pissed is an understatement...

I believe that the "razor blade" mod mentioned earlier entails setting razor blades into the rear of the head unit chassis so that when someone who attempting to extract it without your permission leaves with a feeling of love and affection from their intended victim that they can take with them to the emergency room. A point to make is that you may want to confer with your local laws to ensure that you don't end up on the receiving end of a criminal and/or civil complaint.

That sucks man. Hopefully they didn't scratch up the doors and such climbing in and out- that's what happened to my Dad's truck when they smashed the driver's window and grabbed everything they could from inside (sunglasses, Leatherman, phone chargers, and some empty CD cases- the discs were still in the head unit). They didn't really get anything too important or expensive, but we kept finding glass shards for like a year later and his door, especially up by the window has scuffs from the perp's belt buckle.

Something to consider, especially since you're a guy who tints your windows is Formula One's new window tint that resist's breakage more like the front windshield to prevent smash and grabs. Your window still obviously needs replacing but at least your stuff is more likely to be safe. The only down fall that occurred to me right away (and is why I went with a different Formula One tint) is that I live in northern MN and like to ice fish. I'm not the guy out driving on sketchy ice, but pressure ridges and cracks can happen when there's good ice everywhere else and I want to know if my truck starts going through ice and I can't get my door open or window down that I can still smash out the glass easily. Is it likely that I'll need to do this, no, but I'd still rather risk getting some stuff stolen than get stuck in my vehicle in a situation like that. Here's the link for more info on that tint in case you're interested.

i hate freakin people like this. i used to have a rice burner before this truck which had a two way alarm in it. the crooks were able to disarm my alarm and broke into my car. it was done so clean that it looked like a professional did it. denver is getting worse with these types of crime. honestly, getting an alarm probably won't really help because if they really want your stuff, they'll find a way to get it. even if you file a police report, most likely nothing can be done since it is so common and they don't have enough evidence but i still would just in case.

GOOD LUCK MAN AND I HOPE THESE FUCKERS GET CAUGHT OR SOMETHING WORSE TO THEM!

I just don't leave anything of value in my Truck ever. GPS's cell phones, IPODs, IPADS, Laptops, radar dectectors etc.... easy targets for mopes.

Theft is a crime of opportunity, if the mopes see it or know its in your truck they will wait until the perfect time usually late at night to steal by any means necessary. Alarms are a joke if they do a smash and grab.

For what its worth... sorry to hear about your damage and loss.

anyone know best place to get prices on interior panels? (I'm going to try pricing everything I think needs to be replaced, then price it myself so I don't get screwed by insurance company)

That sucks!! I had my whole truck stolen about a year ago. My 89 4Runner. They stole my extra toolbox, my sub, and my amp. Thankfully I had the faceplate to my stereo with me at the time, so they left it alone. But I got it back the same day. One of the many reasons on sold it and got a newer Toyota with an immobilizer system, at least now they can only steal my stuff.

    Karma's a bitch!!!

You mean the immobilizer that every car thief has the ability to disable? Alarms and immobilizer chips are a joke. The only good way to stop them is by putting steel to steel and I do not mean "the club". You can get that club like device that attaches to the brake or gas and that will stop them good from taking your truck. Sure, even that is can be bypassed but it will deter them and they will move on to the truck down the street first.

Agreed. At least if there were extreme penalties for theft, perhaps many people would think twice before doing this kind of BS.

Razorblade mod sounds awesome. Sounds like something I should look into!

Sucks to hear man. Crooks stole my wifes integra a few years back. Since it was all leather, they took the door panels, front and rear seats, and even swiped the gauge cluster. Cops found it stripped and dumped on the street a few days later. I had to drive it from the impound yard with a cinder block for a seat!

Is there a write up or sticky for this? :p
