To do what you are suggesting the following is required

    New shock tabs
    New leaf spring perches
    New driveshaft
    New axles
    New 3rd member
    New wheel bearings

    Or
    New shock tabs
    New leaf spring perches
    New driveshaft
And a whole new rear end

    :)

    Absolutely guys
I will walk out back to my money tree right now

Financing a full rebuild of the back of my truck twice is totally affordable.

    I 100% understand everyone's thought process
I just can't afford to rebuild this rear end twice when I can barely afford to rebuild it once

It's more like if you went to a metal recycling bin
And shoved it inside my 3rd member
And then made the driveshaft out of Mountain Dew cans

The rear end independent of anything else clunks and hops like you're driving over boulders
And the driveshaft now has its own super sweet clunking noise.

    Now
Since there is a recall related to how crap these rear ends were built
I wouldn't feel safe driving it in any condition but fully rebuilt with all inspected parts

Cause as much as it sucks for it to sit in my driveway
How awesome would it be if we "fixed it" to drive it to Cali on its own power and it failed on me at 70mph or
In the middle of nowhere :)

Why not take it to a place like blue torch fab or wide open design?

I vote for new/gently used driveshaft, and a rebuild of the guts of your currently on the truck rear. Would that not get you to Cali at least? Safely
Surely, what I suggest won't cost all that much in comparison to what you suggest as a complete and "proper" new rear everything.

Honestly, we're all just throwing ideas at the wall to see what sticks and will work. For your immediate benefit.

When I've been without a working vehicle and have to glare at the useless lawn ornaments that have sat in my driveway in the past, it's pure depression at its worst. That's why I hope you at least get the damn thing rolling, you don't need to add an inoperable vehicle to the list of shit to think about and make you feel down. :)
