Seems you're correct. I didn't believe it so I checked my rear diff and was surprised there are 2 flexi rubber brake lines above the diff. I was mechanic for 20 years and had never seen that before. Interesting.

If the wheel is moving enough to displace the rotor and caliper, I'm very surprised OP didn't mention a vibe long before he hit the brakes.

TBF, I've driven down some roads that have made me feel like there's something wrong with my truck, and then the road surface changes and the vibration goes away. Maybe the road surface was bad enough that he couldn't differentiate between road and wheel wobble. When I cracked a U-joint on a Forester I was driving, I could only tell something was wrong when I made slight left hand turns. Drive straight, nothing. Big turns, nothing. Very slight turns, like you'd find on an interstate, crazy vibration.

Depends on your rolling speed at the time. I was doing break bed in and pushed my park brake pedal down at a stoplight doing about 2mph. "Abrupt stop" is an understatement.

Hah, My girlfriend tried to use the keyboard on the nav screen, and she said You need to put it in park (it’s a manual). I laughed and explained to her I don’t have “park”. I have a parking brake aka an emergency brake. But really, we just need to be stopped. Sorry no relevance to the thread

Here's a short clip with shitty 90's techno house music to show what an E brake can do at highway speeds. I imagine at surface street speeds it would be better and a bit less dramatic.
