I have a 2016 Tacoma SR5 V6 with pretty heavy tires and rims. I’ve noticed I really have to push down on the accelerator to get her going. And even on the highway when I’m doing 60 I have to push it in pretty far to start accelerating past that point. Is this normal? It’s my first truck so I could just be overly concerned for nothing

There’s a mod for that, switch the springs in the pedal. There’s a thread here somewhere on it

Tire weight, size and rims effect gas mileage and acceleration. Is it a 4 or 6 cyl

I just push the ECT button to give me the placebo that it accelerates better

Pedal Commander will help. I have one in my truck and it does what it advertises. Think of it as a quick turn throttle on a motorcycle.

You could buy a pedal commander/throttle booster, it would give you the same push with less pedal. I know some people don't like having to rug the pedal all the time.

It’s a v6. I know there are things I can do about it but is this normal with Tacomas or is there something wrong?

Based on what I've seen on here and personal experience, its normal. My old 09 prius was a sports car compared to this lmao

For me it wasn't having to rug it, it was the response delay. Pushing the pedal, nothing seems to happen, push it a bit more thinking I wasn't pushing it far enough, then it downshifts and and revs up to the top end. Went the pedal commander route recently strictly for the response lag issue and I'm pretty pleased with it.

Work on your calf muscle strength and range of motion. Back squats are a decent exercise for starters.

I can squat a decent amount and the pedal travel still bothers me. Has nothing to do with leg strength.

I chose to do the "second car" mod. When I want to jump in the left lane and remember what it's like to effortlessly run at 80 mph, I borrow the second car, otherwise known as the fiancee's car.

When I want to chuff along in the right lane and not worry about the trivialities of when I'll get there... I take my truck.
