Are you disappointed in me for a trading in my Tacoma to get a 4Runner?

    More than 5 times.

    1. Pulled over in my sister's car because she let her registration expire. No ticket.
    2. Speeding. Small ticket because the cop got a laugh.
    3. Speeding. Small ticket. Realized it wasn't worth the $ and quit speeding.
    4. No front plate on my car because it was new. Pulled over a couple times for this, never got a ticket and eventually WY got rid of the front plate requirement.
    5. Every other time (several) was because I forgot to put the sticker on my plates. Registration was always current and so was insurance, because I'm not an entitled douchebag... just a regular douchebag.

    Tickets
    Speeding
Failure to maintain control (dropped off road onto gravel shoulder and spun around)
    Speeding
Speeding.. in a construction zone. Went through 6 other construction zones on the same highway that day and they all dropped to from 65 to 55.. this one dropped to 45 after you crested the hill with patrol sitting right there..

    And I think 3 warnings

So that puts you in the "more than 5 times" category, yet I am the only vote in there. o_O

    So. Many. Stickers.
1: speeding. 18 years old. Paid a lawyer. Paid the fine. Never again.

2: speeding. Was tired AF. Raining. Didn't see the drop sign. Still in work clothes, officer let me off with a stern warning.

3: suspicious vehicle. 1985 Toyota Hilux with a tye dye pain job. Officer was chill, still had to check everything out to make sure it wasn't stolen. Happened in the parking lot of a local pizza place. Got a discount on my order.

4: Pulled over because the swing out tire carrier on my Pathfinder was making suspicious noises (latch came loose). 2 cops showed up immediately looking for contraband, illegal search of the vehicle, called my girlfriend's parents and had them come pick her up (we were on our way home from a concert). Stupid thing is we were 23. Literally not doing anything, didn't drink at the show or smoke anything. Traumatized.

5: Pathfinder Registration didn't update in the state system. Had current stickers, cops camera/computer flagged it as expiree. That was an interesting stop. Had a buddy in the back make a funny comment ala Jeff Dunham's "P. Nut" style humor. Ended up having all three of us pulled out of the vehicle and searched.

6: No rear plate on a heavy duty Chevy truck from 1984. Cop was new. Tried to be an ass, Sergeant rolled up, the friends I was hanging out with happened to be at the house of one of the sergeants best buddies. He recognized the truck. And in Missouri you don't need a rear plate on an HD truck. No ticket.

7: front plate stolen, reported it, DMV said fuck off, rear plate showed up as stolen on a cops camera so he pulled me over. We had a good laugh about it as at this point I was working for a government entity.

8: pulled over late at night for swerving. Cop Thought I was drinking and driving erratically. While we were on the side of the road, Two or three other cars swerved around debris that was in the road, still gave me a warning.

9: pulled over for doing 35 in a school zone that was marked for 25. (Regular posted speed limit 35) I successfully argued in court that the school zone beacon was not working. Eight other people in court for the same infraction within the same week. Everyone had the exact same story, judge threw all of it out.

10: pulled over for speeding on an empty road while responding to a government emergency call. Cop was a jackass still gave me a ticket. Had an affidavit from the fire department who absolutely lit the police department up for delaying emergency response because we were coming in as equipment operators to move these giant oak trees that had fallen across the subdivision entrance During a bad storm. No ticket, still had a fine.

    I think that's all of them. :D

    The poll should read:
    1
    2-4
    5-9
    10-15
    16-24
    25+

I’d still be at the max.

I’ve been driving for 47 years. I drive with purpose. I’m guessing there are others with similar records.
Hell, I was pulled over at least 10 times just in high school!

With purpose.... that's a good one. I should use that if I decide to get a heavy foot and get pulled over. "I was driving with purpose!"

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
    :anonymous:

Speeding...about every 9 months or so from 16 to about 25 then down to every 18 months until maybe 35. When I was in the Air Force in Da UP, MI tickets didn't travel back to WI records and were only $2/MPH over...I got places...quickly.

Weirdest ticket: Home from AF for the weekend. Went out with some friends, I was designated driver (don't drink). One guy asks if I can give this girl a ride home...OK. She's giving directions...turn here (about 2' from the interesection), I brake hard, start the turn...no no no, go to the next intersection. Abort the turn...and see a cop in the parking lot. He pulls me over for DUI/whatever he can think of. As I'm pulling my license out, he sees my military ID. He asks where I'm stationed (KI Sawyer)/Unit. Then he laughs and says: When you get back on Monday, go tell your 1st Sergeant Doug says hi...he's my 1st Sergeant's nephew!

Funniest: It's about 1AM. A training session @ work ran way late, all fast-food places closed and I don't have a lunch. Decided to run to a grocery store about 8 miles away to pick up something frozen...cashier was on the phone, wouldn't get off the phone, only have a few minutes to get back to work to punch back in. So now I'm pissed-off, on my bike (CBR600), get back on the freeway and hit it. A bit down the road, I see reflectors in the median...F&CK, a cop. Look down...83 in a 55! As I get to them (yes, them...guy has a rookie trainee), I pull to a stop on the shoulder. By the time they pull behind me, I have my gloves and helmet off. Conversation goes roughly like this:

Rookie: Don't you think you're going a little fast? I had you at 81.
Me: I'm just glad you weren't a mile back when I was going a buck-twenty.
Veteran cop almost busts out laughing.
Rookie: (almost swallowed his tongue) WHAT?! A hundred twenty?!
Me: Sorry, I thought I had slowed down more...If this were 6AM, I'd have to be going 80 along this stretch to keep from getting run down.
Veteran and Rookie talk, Rookie goes to write me up.
Veteran Cop: Sorry, I have to have him write you up...my boss would have my ass, training a rookie and all.
Me: I figured as much, that's why I was playing with him.
Vet Cop: Were you really going 120 back there? Where?
Me: Yup, up the on ramp from Calumet Street.
Vet: You got 120 on an on ramp?!
Me: Made the turn at about 40 and hit the top of 3rd gear at the merge area.
Vet: How fast this bike go?
Me: I've seen 143...there probably was a little more.
Vet: Really?...What's it like? I've only been to 125 in a cruiser and it scared the shit out of me.
Me: At that speed, you're looking a mile ahead for anything that might say slow tf down.
Vet: Where would you do something like that?
Me: I have a couple of spots out in the county that are over a mile stop sign to stop sign with no houses and good visibility...I'm not looking to die.
Rookie steps out of the cruiser.
Vet: I'm glad you're somewhat sensible about it.
Rookie gives me my ticket and I head back to work. Wrote me for 69 in a 55.

    Only 1 ticket since then.

Funny, just yesterday I was doing my yearly review with my insurance man. He asked me if I wanted to take advantage of their 'safe driver' program for a discount, where their dongle tracks and reports your driving.

I said: no, you won't like my driving. It's not that I'm agressive, I'm assertive...I brake hard, turn hard and accelerate hard. I want to know what my truck will feel like at the edge if things go sideways and what I need to do to correct. My accident record speaks for itself.

He got a chuckle out of that.

    edit: I can't type sometimes
