A moderator with a Tacoma? (Not anymore, traded in.) {Come on over to new build thread}

Huh.... Little update on the Rough Country UCAs. The left UCA came with a torn boot. No big deal right? Ball joint isn't listed on the website. Hmm. I emailed them, telling them I bought them in new and uninstalled condition but technically used (in the vain hope they'd do me a solid for good customer service.) They respond back Saturday asking if I can provide a receipt for proof of purchase.... I tell them no, I cannot, but I would like to purchase a replacement. No response from email yet today, figured I give texting a shot. Text them today on break asking if I can purchase a replacement. They say I have to call. Respond and say I'm at work and instead of calling would prefer I give them my email and they send a PayPal invoice to me. Their response? "That's impossible." What if I had a medical condition and was unable to talk on a phone, no ball joints for people with disabilities? Lol.

 

Lol. I just found the responses off-putting. No explanation, conciliatory customer focused language, or anything else positive. After the "That's impossible." I replied, "Okay, I guess I will call once I am able to. I must confess I find it odd the ball joints aren't available on the website and that the issue cannot be dealt without a phone call." His response? "No problem." Ugh lol.

 

They were purchased from a dude on here at a steep discount so there is no chargeback to speak of.

 

It sure seems like CS actually is dead. Unfortunately I have to do business with them until I get my hands on a replacement balljoint.

 

Lol it just might end up that way. We'll see how the phone call goes.

 

Nahh. The guy I bought them from bought them only with the intention to resell them for profit. He bought them at at a local auction that resells returned items from online stores like Amazon. They were very obviously never installed as they are clean and all bubble wrap/packaging/thread protectors were in place. He just assumed they were as pristine as they appeared as I would have. It's a very small hole and only became noticeable during a thorough inspection that involved actually moving the balljoint around.

 

I should get a snorkel

 

Used to. Always got a sinus infection which took all the fun out of snorkeling so I stopped. Now I want one for my truck

A snorkel wouldn't hurt but I'm actually very surprised that day I packed my engine bay full of snow that I didn't have any issues. I know in my dad's Silverado he had when we would pack the engine bay his air filter would get absolutely jammed full of snow and we'd have to stop and open up the air box knock out the snow and let stuff thaw out a little and then resume.
