Are you disappointed in me for a trading in my Tacoma to get a 4Runner?

Well, just agreed to be a product tester. There is a new option for floor mats for 3rd gen Tacomas and I told them I would do an unbiased review and comparison against my tux mats. Looking at their coverage I can already tell it's not as good as tuxmat but they also have one feature that I absolutely adore and that's grommets (or whatever you call them) to plug the hole left by the floor mat hold downs. Currently on tuxmats those holes are left open and I had to find my own plastic plugs that were close in size and then glue them down which is obviously not ideal but better than leaving the open plugs for moisture salt dirt mud and all that good stuff to drip down inside of.

So one of the themes of this build was to try new things and stray from mainstream products. Certain parts of the truck I'm unwilling to gamble on but I have decided seat covers is one that I will gamble on. Paying $400+ dollars for front and back is unacceptable in my opinion (besides Clazzios, I concede they are worth the money if you aim to hang on to your truck for a long time as they look and feel factory.) When it's time to place the order I will be choosing whichever front and back set with a Chinese name looks best. I spent a long time the other day looking at random custom fit Tacoma seat covers and there's actually a fair amount that have legitimate looking reviews and pictures.

Here is one I am considering: Amazon.com: LUCKYMAN CLUB S08-QE Tacoma Seat Covers, Fit for 2005-2023 Tacoma Crew Cab/Double Cab SR SR5 TRD Sport TRD Off-Road PreRunner with Water Proof Faux Leather(Full Set, Black) : Automotive

And here is one that makes me angry. I do not care about all the amazing things the material has to offer, they look like universal fit for over $500!!!! Cordura Marathon Excel Custom Seat Covers - Covercraft

Those were just an example and I definitely will be looking for some that appear more breathable but that is for sure a valid concern that I will be keeping in mind.

I REALLY wish you could get a lower trim level Tacoma with auto4 (or whatever Toyota calls it) instead of having to pay $52,000.....

It's the soccer mom/rich kid trim. Working class and men know how to work 4x4.

Lol. My 2001 Silverado had auto four and I absolutely loved it so much. Being able to pull out from an unplowed back road to a dry, plowed, and salted main highway was so nice to have it give me that initial traction off the line but then no binding once I'm on the main drag. Also super helpful when intersections are icy but then everywhere else is dry.

Four high is a part-time system on Toyota's. You can engage it on the fly.

And unlike the GM Auto 4, the Toyota system doesn't blow up the front diff from being used normally.

Alternatively, have good tires, put weight in the bed and don't floor it when the weather is bad. I had a two-wheel drive taco for years and never had an issue except for once where it was so bad the plow crews couldn't get anywhere.

Toyota doesn’t make an auto 4 but they do make some trims with full time 4wd

Do you think they only put that system in the top of the line trim levels because people who usually buy top of the line trim levels don't really off-road and or abuse their vehicles? Like maybe it's not as robust of a system? Because man I want it in the worst way but that shit is too expensive to get the top trim level
