Are you disappointed in me for a trading in my Tacoma to get a 4Runner?

I would never want full time 4wd, I don't want the added wear & tare on parts or the reduced MPG's.

Thank you! People get weirdly dismissive and act like it's a useless feature that makes you weak for wanting (????) when it's actually a fantastic thing.

It's lifted directly from the Prado. It's robust as anything Toyota makes.

It should have been in more trims, I think marketing people live on a different planet

    Until it breaks :boink:

Just because you never have to shift out of 4H when you're driving around Butt-fuck-nowhere, WY in the winter doesn't mean the rest of us don't. :p

I don't get how turning a little knob on the dash is so difficult!!

I don't get how it's so difficult to understand that going from a foot of snow to bone dry pavement will cause the four-wheel drive to bind terribly. On a part-time four-wheel drive system you would have to go straight ahead until you reach pavement, turn the knob, hope it doesn't sit there and flash longer than normal, and then finally be able to actually turn into the lane. Or trying to get started from an icy intersection that is completely iced up just to immediately have your turn on dry pavement coming up. You again give it gas on the ice, get going, immediately let off the gas, switch the knob, watch the blinking, then you can turn. With a full time 4wd you literally just drive and don't think about it. Like obviously it is doable with part-time four-wheel drive but I don't understand the pushback against full-time four-wheel drive. It's like men are afraid to have something convenient.

I support full time 4wd but auto 4 is dumb

also wish they still had the real LSD in the rear instead of auto lsd. That was super nice in the winter

I mean..... Unless you've got the wheel cranked hard over..... It won't bind.... Mostly....

After almost fifty yrs of driving both I've never found full time to be convenient or a bonus just a gas guzzling pain in the ass that sucked up parts like that shit was cheap.
Matter of fact the last two we had on the farm the guys would take the tractors before driving them anywhere.

On my second gen "best gen" I have no binding or problems turning from a snow covered road to dry, there's usually snow stuck in the treads as you turn (no binding) giving time to switch out!
