I was forced to put down my red bone coon hound today, I took her in to the vet to get her checked out because she had been beat up by my sisters American bull dogs, one of which I also own. The vet ran tests and checked her out, alot of the bites were infected and they check out her eyes and find one pupil is bigger then the other which is a concern for a possible tumor. They also tested her for heart worms which she turned out to be positive for, well they were going to do surgery to remove the tumors and so they did some X-rays and come to find she has a tumor in her brain and neck and around her hips. Well I just couldn't afford a 3k vet bill then follow ups and everything, I had to make the choice to put her to sleep as she had a good life chasing birds, ducks, rabbits, mice, running and barking at you while you wash your car on the other side of the fence or just barking for fun. she also loved sniffing crotches. She was 9 yrs old this year. I can still remember leaning over my bed at my parents house in her green crate we bought for her and naming her Zoe.

Sorry I don't have any pics, she never liked when I took them.

aww man im soo sorry. It is by far one of the hardest things humans have to do in life. We just had to put out 10 year old sheltie down due to cancer back in Jan.

its hard, but knowing Zoe had a good life, and someone who loved her as much as she loved you is all she needed to know as she went to sleep. Peace be with her now, shes waiting for you in heaven brother.

Damnit, that lump in my throat is back:(

I managed to find a pic from about 8 months ago, laying down with her little sister Kayla.
