I bought a 2010 Tacoma and joined this forum. I don't post much but this is where I turn when I have Tacoma related questions. Once my 2010 hit 200,000 trouble free miles I traded it on an a beautiful 2017 TRD Sport 4x4 in Barcelona Red. 2 days later I totaled it driving from Georgia to Wisconsin for an opening day deer hunt.

I don't know why I'm posting here but this is the first time I've really mentioned it in "public." After a few days I went looking at new ones (again) and walked over to the exact same truck that I had and felt sick. At this point I can't even look at red ones but I need a new one and won't consider anything but a Tacoma. My original one was Magnetic Grey and I really liked it so I'm thinking of going back to that. What do y'all think? It seems like I have a Pavlovian response to the red. Will it pass? Should I start from scratch with a new truck and try to put my 2 day experience of driving a red truck behind me?

Welcome to the TW, sorry to hear about the new truck. I would get whatever color you want, color had nothing to do with the accident. Tough decision.

    Glad you are okay.

You're suffering from some sort of trauma from the wreck.

If you want to get over it you could see an EMDR therapist which will help you get past it.
In the short term, maybe just pick a different color if that helps.

Everybody is different, so whether the aversion to Barcelona red will pass is anybody's guess.

If it was me, and Barcelona was my favorite color, I would get another one.

As others have said, maybe you are feeling some distress from the accident, and seeing the color brings it up to your conscience brain, so maybe try and deal with that issue.

End of the day, most of the Tacoma colors are fine, and if you get a 2018, it will have Toyota Safety Sense, which could give you some solace.

Sorry for your troubles, and good luck with the new ride.

Tacoma's also have this thing called 4x4, but I think the whole "colors other than white" matter was probably enough of a shock for one day...lol

Just look through all of the threads on this forum and see what really catches your eye. It may end up being Barcelona Red or something else may jump out at you. I like all of them. The recently added Cavalry Blue is nice too!

Go to a dealers lot and look at the colors in person. Do not rely on photos --either the ones here or the mfr. supplied. Also, go at different times of the day and night. Just remember it is YOU AND YOUR closest family that has to look at this hunk of metal and plastic day in and day out. It makes absolutely NO DIFFERENCE what someone else likes (unless its your wife or significant other). For example I thought I really liked the quicksand color (I still like it) but I knew I would grow tired of that color (just me). If you trade often this would make no difference -- are U starting to see what I mean. It is your choice man, don't worry about what every body else likes/dislikes. If you still like the red --get a new red one and move on!

No -- OP -- go see the colors in person in different lighting conditions even go to other dealers if necessary, to see them all.

When I wrecked my motorcycle I had it towed home. Spent a few days looking at it and thinking am I going to ever ride again. I started the repairs not knowing if I was going to ride it or sell it. Once it was back in safe operating condition, I got back on the saddle and enjoyed life once again.
You chose red the first time, best way to get over it is get another red one.

    Hypothetical situation:

You need to buy a new truck, and a local dealer gives you a killer deal on a truck that has exactly all the features you are looking for.

    The truck is bright pink.

    Would you buy it?

    Just saying....
