While I agree with the first sentence, IIRC from the head gasket thread(s), book R+R time of 1 head is around 17 hours - the front timing cover has to be removed as it is doweled to the heads at the front, which in itself is fairly labour intensive.

I would be pissed too and ask for a new truck. Wouldn't really expect to get it but I would expect the longest extended warranty they have. Just document everything and if the truck is really a lemon and you have continual problems there is remedies through the law.

I know that standard production engine test equipment won't allow this condition to pass. I've also been inside an engine valve production facility, and it would be very difficult for this defect to be made in my opinion. This is interesting to say the least.

    This. ^^^

It would be annoying to have this issue with a new truck, but this isn't really that bad of a fix for skilled individuals. Those techs will be more worried about what they're gonna have for lunch than how hard this fix will be.

I wonder if the OP is now driving around in a new-born truck he has demanded for a replacement from the lot.

... or did they simply change the heads of his truck and send him on his way?

ONE diagnosed issue and the lemon law is being referred to? Lawl. That ejaculation is a bit premature.

let them fix it and add an extended power train warranty.

are you happy with the truck otherwise?

I agree here. I worked in shops and work on all my own stuff. Unless they were going to pull the new head assy. apart and check it, it could have the same issue. If it was mine I would want them to replace the bad valve with a new one and I would move on. I do find after reading posts on here that I let a lot of things go that some people do not. For example my windshield wiper switch was broken when I purchased my truck. I wanted an upgraded one anyway, so I never said anything, just bought the one I wanted from a guy off here. Same with the radio. You will have a well inspected truck, and possibly an extended warranty, and all for free. I would keep what you got. IMO of course.
