Well, I think I was lucky. I worked for a major that had an apprentice program. Needless to say the wage was low during the program but, when completed, the appretice was moved to sr. mechanic. Turned out to be okay for me...

i was planning on getting my a&p almost a year ago..then i got voluntold for control so no more a&p. anyway now i am trying to see how far i can get with six sigma training. before i get out.. i have seen some aerotek adds on jsfirm. also have two headhunting companies that are supposed to be contacting me in a couple months to see what they can do but i have to be closer to the end of my conrtact.

Do it! you wont regret having it! There are alot of other professions that recognize it. For one theme parks hire A and Ps to work on their rides and from what I understand pay pretty damn well.

Not an A&P...I'm an AME (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer), the Canadian equivalent. :)
    So really, I fix airplanes!

hahhaa i used to be stationed there!!!! thats where i used to do my airman program. i did most of my time over on the jayhawk side tho.
Sekorsky tried to get us to buy these while i was there, sooo freaking awsome but way out of budget for the coast guard.

Haha nice! when were you there? i was there roughly may 2006 - oct 2007. what kind of fun stuff did they have on the one herc with the huge dish on it? If rumor is true thats the most active coast guard station in the world. IIRC.

a few pics i scrounged up from the tarmac of my bag throwing/fueling days.

I've never personally applied for one, but I would go straight to a theme park and ask at the ticket counter or at will call to see about applying for a job. Nowadays everything is online so more than likely they will have you go on their website to apply.
