The really weird part, OP that started this thread has not posted in it since Nov 15, 2022, lol.

This is not how insurance works. You do not get a new vehicle every time you have an incident. That was minor damage, arguably cosmetic, and can be repaired equally as good for far less cost than a brand new truck.

And, no, they do not just take your money. You pay for insurance to protect you against losses you could not otherwise afford, and as required by law, based on risk-based statistical models.

Live with it. Nothing you can do unless you replace the pillar on your own for cheap method.

Insurance won't total it unless it stated otherwise.

Accidents can happen no matter what... you can not protect the truck from mother nature unless you keep it in the secured garage.

Once you take it on the road, it is not safe which you can NOT predict what could happen between place A and place B.

I have pinstripe scratches on my truck from off roading... who cares. I can have it fixed at later date if I decide to sell.

If you take it to shop, it would be expensive to fix. If you do it on your own, it will be cheaper.

I have seen people keep their trucks with damages...

Some keep it until they have enough money to buy a new one.

Insurance won't total for damaged pillar... If tree crushed the roof, then it will be totaled. I will find this funny if insurance total it if it has damaged pillar..

    The pillar is easy fix.

or the other person should have known.... there are people who don't track that or look. its similar to a person not understanding the brakes on their care then it fails, cause an accident they should have known. but that scenario i suggest doesn't fit the OP situation

That's what I was referring to. If the property owner knew or should have known. If I am not the property owner, it doesn't matter if I knew or should have known because I can't do anything about it.
