anyone have a CXHD on their 3rd gen? I've ordered one and got a call today saying the 550lb roof limit was only with the ARE HD rack, not with the roof tracks. I was planning on using the tracks and a Prinsu rack with a CVT on top. can anyone shed some light on if this is combo is going to work or should I go with something else?

Bump. Definitely interested in doing the same set up eventually! My belief is that the 550lb limit on the A.R.E. HD rack is due to the rack itself, not the structural strength of the cap. On the website I saw a picture of a RTT set on top of the CX HD. Would like a more definite answer though.

Well, I purchased mine. I have roof tracks and not the HD bar rack, I plan to use a Prinsu rack with my RTT. Seeing how the internal frame is set up, I believe it could be moved/modified to possibly provide much more internal support than the way it arrived from the factory. I'll post some photos up when I get around to fiddling with it. Is it something I think will work? I don't know. I feel more comfortable knowing the frame is there, however I'm not sure I'd purchase the HD with roof tracks again. The HD rack is ugly
In my opinion, if your using a cab rack as well. But I think I can come up with a solution that may help out the topper without the HD rack.
