Decided to go with a slightly higher than cab height camper top. Only one dealer around here and he quoted $1,780 + sales tax for an A.R.E. MX with "screened windoors" and a Yakima rack. This is for my '08 Access Cab. Good deal? Ok deal? Fair deal? Total ripoff? TIA...

I ordered an A.R.E. CX last weekend and paid about $1300 after tax. The only options I got were the fold down picture window and headliner. The Z series started at around $1700. This might not help you much, but it may if you compare to your dealer.

I just got a quote here in NH for my new '09 Access Cab Tacoma. I did not ask about the MX, but the CX was quoted at $1349 or the Z for $1849. (There is also a $70 rebate available from ARE right now.)

That $1300 post-tax CX in Ithaca sounds pretty darn good - go Big Red.

FWIW, I also got a quote on Leers - XQ = $1740 and XL =$1485.

    Good luck,

    Michael in NH
