Folks, did something stupid today backed the truck up with the ARE rear window up and a tree got in the way. Hinge is sprung and needs replacement. Looks like everything is held together with rivets which makes taking stuff apart a challenge.

So need a source for parts, will need a new hinge .
Hints for disassembly; looks like the fastenings will have to get drilled out
The magic needed to take the lifters off.

Anyone else do something dumb like this and figured out how to fix it?

    Thanks

Yankee Custom in South Portland is an ARE dealer. They will be a good source for replacement parts.

The rivets are likely 1/8" or 3/16" blind aluminum pop rivets, the most commonly used sizes. If so they can be drilled with a 1/8" or 3/16" drill bit.
Usually you can drill just enough to get the heads off and finish driving them thru with a punch. If they try to spin while drilling, try to hold them with needle nose pliers.
for reassembly you can buy a small hand powered riveter online or at harbor freight for cheap, something like this:

    https://www.amazon.com/BEETRO-Rivet...684984004&sprefix=hand+riveter,aps,128&sr=8-3

The majority of "lifters" have a spring steel strap over the plastic ends which you can pop off with a small flat blade screwdriver.
Once the spring steel keepers are off you can usually lift them off the mounting ball.

As for the hinge, I have no good idea, let me know if you find a reasonable source for that type stuff. I need some replacement window frames for my no-name shell and everywhere I found wants almost as much as a new shell for them. ARE dealer probably your best bet as stated above.
