I agree with many the factory system isn't all that powerful but I don't really find it to be as terrible as many say.
I've had high end systems in previous cars and ya factory isn't anywhere close to those but really don't see a need to go that route again if I did upgrade.

Good review and it is making me considering going to the OEM+ set up even more.
How much bass do you get out of just the speakers without the sub?

I've always found that once you get into a higher quality speaker its meant to be paired with a woofer for lows so you the speaker itself has limited bass.
I can't lose the storage compartment to a sub so if I went this route I'd be going without the sub.

$999 w/o the subwoofer. More my speed as well...

Just talked to Daniel @ OEMaudioplus and he said even without the subwoofer this is an absolute upgrade in sound quality and volume over the stock setup. Adding the sub will only enhance the overall experience and can easily be added at a later date if one should choose. Food for thought

Personally I would get the whole system it was tuned with the sub in mind. This 8" wonder doesn't impede your listening pleasure at all, it enhances it! The sub isn't overwhelming whatsoever like you hear the thumpers going down the road, it's mature sounding if you know what I mean. And blends well with the masterpiece they fine tuned .

If I read correctly, the standard 450q doesn't come with the 6x9 or 6.5 speakers? You guys think adding a pair of other brand speakers to front and back would effect the sound poorly?

There's also an option w/ speakers but w/o the subwoofer.

I thought they only had 2 options, Sub and Sub plus Speakers.

I believe it's $999 but I could be wrong. Email them, Daniel is super helpful.

Although the 8" subwoofer will fill in the low end where the speakers cant. A complete system requires a sub. And from what I've read it's not boomy or overpowering. I'm saving up to get it

I experimented with mine a bit. Just the speakers from OEM Audio and no amp sounded better than stock except for bass. I thought the stocks had better low end. But the new speakers hadn't yet broken in. I've had the truck for 6mos.

If you run the OEM Audio system without the sub, the system needs to be tuned to have the fronts and rears provide low end.

The tune with the system that ships with the sub limits the front low freqs... at least that's how it sounds. I tested by removing the sub and it was ALOT weaker in bottom end. If it were tuned to run with no sub it would probably be a nice upgrade over stock.

For shits and giggles I hooked up my 10" 4ohm bazooka tube to one of the channels and the base was about the same.

Two weeks in and it seems to be loosening up. Lows are nice at low volumes. They do level off at higher volumes but the sound is just great. The sub will fill in all the low freqs. You can really hear and feel it. It's not loud though but enough for most people.

I'm really happy with it so far.

Just ordered my System 500 OEM, I already have the Kicker speaker upgrade so can’t wait to get the amp and sub woofer installed. Pretty pumped after reading all these reviews. Cheers

Oh that’s ok, the old reviews are about the same as the new ones. That just tells me I should be happy with the upgrade.

I just ordered my system 500, have you received/installed yours? I am curious how it sounds with the kicker speakers as I have upgraded to those as well and purchased this to kind of round out the whole system.

I think it’s finally time for a reference setup. I’ve been looking at this since 2017. Haha.

Yes, I have received and installed it. And I am very happy. I like a system that produces a punch with the bass and the drums. I still have the stock head unit but I don’t use the volume that I did before (an amp helps, I know) and the sound is awesome. I make excuses to go places just so I can listen to the system. Digital radio sounds great but throw in a CD and you will be amazed. Good choice, enjoy.

My system is in, I have the OEM system 500 with Kickers in all 6 places, if I do anything more I think it will be to swap out the front door Kickers with the Focals. I have Focal in my house and Im totally sold. At the time I put Kickers in I was not planning on the amp. You kind of need an amp to get the goodness of the Focals. But I have plenty of time. This system sounds great.
