El camino! The front is a car, and the back is a truck. The front is where you drive and the back is where you...EL CAMINO

Thanks for the warning, wow 4 figure tickets?!?! I was looking to head that way sometime kind of waiting for the new on the truck to wear off a bit so I don't feel so bad bashing on her a little.

Have you considered a Miata? Easily had for a few k and supposedly a ton of fun as a track car/toy. I really like the hardtop versions that came out later. Reliable, easy to fix, good mpg, and apparently handle perfectly.

I wanted the Focus SVT or Fiesta as well but seems used ones are pretty well trashed... same with STIs and WRXs just don't have the longevity as it's usually a younger fellow that is thrashing them around.

I mean look around and see if they’ve published some motor vehicle use rules since then. I guess it used to be kosher to go pretty much anywhere but by that point(I guess maybe 4 years ago?) some parts were closed down. Except it was impossible to find any kind of published and clear rules one way or the other or a motor use map or anything. Maybe they’ve cleaned things up since. If I remember right they got out of it in the end, one of their dads either was a lawyer or hired one for them and like they genuinely had no idea they were someplace they weren’t allowed.

I mean yeah a Miata’s on the radar for sure. What’s nice is the Fiesta ST would be 2014 at the oldest, and they were only a hair past 20k to begin with so they’re already getting towards $10k. I also don’t love the NC, so that means an NB or NA will be 10 years older than the Fiesta at the newest, and it’s not like those lived easy lives at this point. The other thing is I’ve never owned a properly fast car so if it’s going to be more of a toy I’d lean that way, the Fiesta has extra appeal because it also makes a perfectly practical daily that could save me some gas. Idk, I’m not planning on pulling the trigger on something in the immediate future so who knows what might drop to an attractive price point by the time I’m serious. I’ve also been considering taking a basic rider course and getting my motorcycle endorsement for a long time. A bike would more than scratch the sporty itch while being way cheaper to both buy and own and be easier to store.

Not quite. I have an Accord and a Civic. I was going to trade in the Accord on my Taco but pulled back at the last minute because I love that car. Honda makes outstanding cars but the thing they call a truck ain’t no truck. I still get a chuckle every time I see the license plate on my neighbors Ridgeline that says “TRUCK”.

What you expect from fanboy tacoma owners? I love my truck, but shit some of the dudes on here think the Tacoma is the second coming of Christ. Guys who ridicule the ridgeline and say it's femine and not truck like (news flash: half you clowns dont even offroad much less use your beds probably), are the same meatheads that drive fullsizes Rams/F150s and think midsize truck owners are girly.

Yup, every community has em. I'm into old Land Rovers too and by and large Land Rover people are by far my favorite car community, almost everyone knows they're a little crap in some ways and don't try to pretend otherwise. Also pretty much everyone actually uses them(I mean in the Rover enthusiast community, so we're talking like Disco 2s and P38s or earlier. Some have newer ones as dailies if they can afford them, but most of the love is for the old solid axle trucks. I am well aware most buyers of new Land Rovers have no plans to hit the trails). None of these posts like 'Just bought a truck! What's the best looking lift and bumpers? Also I might take it on a forest road every so often so I should probably go for full skids and sliders right?' but you will be warned to go for an RTE bumper over an ARB even though the RTE's sorta ugly because the ARB twists a little if you're winching a heavy load at an extreme angle.

But then there's always that guy who drank too much of the kool aid and thinks Land Rovers are transporters of gods, that nothing out there can match them off road and they're actually the most reliable vehicles ever made, everyone else is just wrong. I must not be a real Land Rover enthusiast if I daily a Toyota.

Brand loyalty is the most moronic thing in the world. There are so many great cars out there, why limit yourself? The old dude on my block that drives the most basic 2wd extended cab first-gen Tacoma out of pure practicality would probably love a Ridgeline. It's a niche product for the small market of people who are either tired of getting the back of their crossover/wagon filthy or have a pickup because they need an open bed but otherwise want something as car and appliancelike as possible. Comparing it to the TRD Pro or Gladiator is about as relevant as comparing the TRD Pro to an F250, different tools for totally different purposes and people. Its only real competition is the SR and SR5 Tacomas and the non-off road Colorado trims, which would probably be a much closer sales race. And I suppose the Frontier if that's somehow still alive I'm never sure.

    Honestly, I love ours.
But I would have cried if I'd have had to give up my Taco for it

Of the four things you said, three are true. Motorcycle maintenance can be quite expensive, depending on model and tire size. I buy decent tires for my old BMW airhead, and get about 10k miles out of them. Roughly 250 - 300$ a set. Oil changes every 5k. Valve adjustment every 5k, if I had to pay someone to do, would be spendy.

First glance thought that was a photo shopped Ridgeline. Now do one for the Ranger and whatevah car it looks like, the Escort?
