and that is a first gen Ridgeline... which I will admit blew my mind. My uncle lives on an isolated ranch in west Texas. The driveway crosses a creek, twice. No bridge. When the river is up, you have to call ahead to tell him you're coming to visit and he'll meet you at the gate and drive you back to his house. He is a retired GM employee and owns a Chevy 1500. He also owns a Ram 1500 he got on some weird incentive system, and then he bought his wife the gen 1 Ridgeline. Since he purchased the Ridgeline, his trucks have been sitting rotting.

Ughhh.......don’t tell me there’s the same 1st Gen vs 2nd Gen battle going on at Ridgeline world as there is here between 2G and 3G Tacos.

If you stack enough rocks, I’ll bet a Corolla will do the Rubicon trail, too.

If you’re considering a Ridgeline, it will probably suit you just fine. At the end of the day, it’s still a chopped minivan with a 4x4 system not designed to be tested. I’ll bet it’s comfy AF and has amenities out the ass. If the driver wants to venture off-road, any taco will be able to pull it back to safety.

I did the Rubicon in a Corolla, in winter. Trail is way overrated.

seriously though, I’d volunteer to stack rocks, camp cook, and spot full time to see that.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
I had a Ridgeline for 11 years and 200,000 miles. It was a good "town car" for long cross country trips. The seats were comfortable enough for a 22 hour trip.

After it crossed the 200,000 mile mark, I wasn't interested giving it a midlife refresh due to some of the quality issues we saw during ownership. The rear main seal had to be replaced at 60,000 miles and it needed it again at 120,000. The Honda V6 leaked more oil than a British car. It started picking up electrical gremlins around 180,000 miles. I found Nissan V6s to be of much higher quality. I still have a four cylinder Civic that has been ok. Though I worry about the automatic transmission.

Our family fell out with Honda over the leaking V6 rear main seal problem. Other V6 owners received some financial relief after the class action lawsuit. Due to the low sales volume. Ridgeline owners were not represented in the class action lawsuit. So the Ridgeline owners got screwed.

If you want to pick on Honda Ridglines, do it over oil leaks and poor build quality. The owners are just everyday people who wanted a light duty truck. They might move to a Toyota product someday.

Here's the class action lawsuit information in the link below.

Kept an F-150 during that time.

Swapped in a 70,000 mile replacement engine in my 226,000 mile Tacoma shortly after selling the Ridgeline.

As you can see, I did the swap in my driveway without any help.

Rumor has it that the 2020 Ridgeline will offer a hybrid engine. A 2.0 I-4, with two electric motors. Estimated 40+ mpg.
Sadly, no word yet on a fake hood scoop and drum brakes.

The Tacoma will probably be heading in the hybrid direction for gen 4. I would buy that over a Ridgeline any day, even if it only got 25 mpg.
