One of the best alarm systems I ever had was a weimaraner and a red bone hound together. The sight hound would let us know if anything moved in the yard during the day and the scent hound would let us know if anything moved in the yard at night. Neither were dangerous but they loved to bark if anything changed. I've got a cousin with 6 or so guinea. They do the same as the two hounds, only need a little corn, and keep most bugs out of the area. Grandpaw had a pair of geese once. Same as all the above and will attack.

OMG, guinea hens, yes... if you want the most effective and incredibly annoying perimeter alarm on earth, get yourself 15 guinea hens. The downside? Living with 15 guinea hens.

If you already have 9mm ammo then a Glock 17 or 19 will serve you well. Cheap, everyone and their mama has one, parts will be easy to find when SHTF, lightweight, wide selection of aftermarket parts, good mag capacity, etc. The Sig P320 series is good too but Glock’s reliability has been tried and true.

+1 on Glock pistols. I would go with a 17 for home defense, the 19 for carry. 9mm is common and stops just fine. My "middle of the night" gun is a 17. I have put so many rounds down range with it, its use is very natural for me. I keep it loaded with Hydroshocks, and I practice lots of 3 in the T. The flash isn't too bad in a dark room either.

I spit out my soda reading this...

I just bought a Hellcat recently, amazing firearm (except for the stock trigger) but thats more of a carry gun.
An AR22 just feels like a waste to me. Great for target practice, but nothing else, and I always feel like spending money on a firearm that can cover a few areas of recommended use just makes more sense.
I know FN has been pushing some sales recently, and although I dont like the ascetic of them, they are great to shoot.
In all Honesty I would say look at Canik. They are pushing some amazing firearms with amazing prices. Basically the price that glocks go for, but fully upgraded and in need of nothing..... unlike Money hungry Glock

I was asked by a retired preacher one time, "Just how many guns do you you need?"
I really didn't know what to say because he had deer mounts on the wall.
Then he said, " You always need just one one more."

My wife has never said that, but on two occasions, my lovely Daughter in Law has told me son that he should be another gun. She's a keeper.

OTOH, my wife has never complained about me buying another gun. She also wears the gun jewelry that I've bought her from time to time. Sometimes she does it just to piss off liberal friends. :)

    She's a keeper too.
