Would you rather us not buy any ammo, and let anyone smuggle their drugs and people across the border? Im sure we are not buying anymore than we usually do.

The issue isn't normal ammo purchases, it is a possible and strangely timed spike in orders that far outpaces justifiable usage. Whether or not the Drug War catastrophe should be funded is an entirely different topic. What I've read is we used something like 5ish million rounds of ammo per month in Iraq. If we have enough smugglers to need not only 5 million a month, but a billion + we have much bigger issues to worry about.

Don't know if the feds need the 2.1 billion per month but you bring up a good point.

Its not 2 billon per month. 2 billion is a couple accumulated orders. I would be interested to see ammo orders the military has been placing as a comparison. I don't see any justifiable reason for DHS to have ammo requirements even distantly approaching what our military would need or uses. There's an exceptionally worrying disconnect between what arms DHS has and is buying and what arms they think the citizenry should be allowed to even look at.

were at the bottom of the food chain. maybe if the feds will slow down on purchasing us little fish might be able to once again be able to find ammo to enjoy our hobby. i really miss being able to go to the range and having to ration my ammo. i probably shoot a tenth of what i used to.

That and for this panic to calm down. I have cut way back too. Gets so insanely old not being able to even find .22lr. I'm all for whoever wants to and is responsible enough to own firearms and ammo, but I wonder how many of these people panic stockpiling will ever even shoot what they buy. Most of it will probably just sit in some closet or basement for the next couple decades before it gets tossed...

You guys just need to shoot off caliber guns. Stuff like 7mm and 243 for your rifles and 10mm hand gun stuff. I can but that amo all day long.

X2 on what you said. I'm just hoping in the next couple of years these panic buying people will need to pay off their bills and when they realize that ammo and "assault weapons" aren't going away anytime soon they will try and sell em off and we will be able to buy all their stuff for cheap

    Are those full?

you lucky bastard if they are.....

that is what I am hoping for.

and I don't hoard my ammo.....I have less than 5000 rounds of .22 and less than 1000 of 17 hmr (all I really shoot anymore....). I have been buying the 22 ammo whenever i see it so that I can shoot whenever I want to. If I see 22 ammo I will buy it even if I don't plan on shooting that week, because the next week it might be gone when i want to go shooting.

You are welcome sir!! We, here in california, love hoarding our ammo! :) I can't wait for the rest of you in the country to enjoy all the gun laws we get to deal with here. It seems to be coming your way soon.
