Yeah! That was kinda the point. People on TW are insane and you’d think 3rd gen tacos are the worst cars ever made. Both trucks run/ran great and the A/T is a pleasure. The DCLB is also still a small truck, contrary to what you read here. Cheers!

OP - good write-up, obviously your struggle was real. I do believe the LB has a lot more purpose in day to day life, not wheeling, but personally I love driving the MT. Overall, you got the truck that better suits your needs and that is all what matters. If I wanted auto and money was not a factor selling my truck today to trade, I would be in a Tundra. Again, thanks for the write-up.

When I took my Land Cruiser in for a timing belt replacement at Toyota yesterday, I test drove a 2018 DCSB OR with an automatic transmission.

Honestly, it drove pretty well compared to the 2016 version I test drove years back which gave me the R to D delay on the test drive.

I'm one of the harshest critics of the 3rd gen, but I'm glad Toyota is making improvements. That 2018 drove pretty nice.

I have stated here before, Toyota would not put a engine / transmission combo into the Taco for three years if it truly sucked.

I had a bad first 4 weeks or so but now...I am slowly warming up to the driving characteristics. Not saying I'm in love but I am definitely not as irked as I was initially.

Or make enough money to keep your AC and get another 4 door. :)

The way the bed meets the cab on the DCSB is so wrong. I would have returned it too. Good call on the DCLB. If I ever have kids that’ll be the way to go. For now AC.

Is funny, we get the KCLB Frontier Pro-4x with the 6MT too. But.. 99% of midsize trucks I see are CCLB automatic so I doubt we will get the best configuration much longer :(.

I had a 2017 DCSB OR with manual transmission, loved it. I could only afford it cuz I leased it. Paid for it and happily drove it for a year then I was like, oh shit I’m gonna spend like $40k on this thing by the time I’m done leasing it and then buying it. In the meantime my wife quit working to stay home with our son full time. Traded it (the truck, not my wife or child) in on a used 2012 DCLB Sport 4x4. Much more sensible money wise and I like the long bed.

TLDR; new trucks with MT are awesome, one time I made a dumb financial decision, now I have an older truck that I can afford and I love it also.

False. His claim that access cab manual are the best holds true, but life happens, and that DCSB look ridiculous. Like a cab floating in the middle, so DCLB is the answer.

False. I'm strictly comparing his 3rd gens to 3rd views. 1st gen doesn't even count in this debacle:p
