If you have this under the hood (optional in 2005-2008 OR models; standard in 2009+ OR models) then you have ATRAC.

I believe we are all born with a gift, a special talent ifyou will, for some it is mechanics, for others it may be music, art, sports etc: I am not sure just what my talent is, but I know what it is not! It is not mechanics!. So when I purchased and had questions about my new Tacoma,I came to a place where people with the gift of mechanics were. There are many contributors on this forum (too many to mention) who are very talented in mechanics. &when they post I take notice, I read & sometimes re-read what they have to say. (I want to thank them for that). One contributor, David K, was gracious enough to even send me some E-mails to help me better understand a question I had, (What does that say about David K??) Another contributor, “Whippersnapper” was one I thought had a pretty good grip onthings mechanical, (which he may have) but then he posts something like this,he may have some mechanical ability, but he has no Class! And at the end of the day, That is what matters!! Doc

Thank you for that! It is always my goal to share what I have discovered so that others can enjoy their trucks as much as I.

Some who have been here a while don't like seeing the same information or same answers, but instead of just moving on... they feel the need to spew their unhappiness here and try and spoil it for the newbies. They don't seem to understand that everyday, new people come to this site or some older members may be reading some posts for the first time... It is no big deal, but they make it so.

Sad and selfish that they can't allow me to post my info or comments without the constant insults or name calling. Perhaps I am just too mature for many of the Tacoma people here and I don't get their purpose if it isn't what I just described?

I wish all you well and I have tried to play nice... sorry that my affection for my truck and its traction systems is too much for some of you to deal with and that you don't have the same excitement for your Toyota.

Oh David David David, This post is part of the problem that people mess with you. I personally like you on here. I think you know your shit for the most part, on how these systems work on our trucks. Infact when I 1st found your thread, not sure if you remember, but I thanked you for doing this write up. I was just as confused with all the buttons as the rest of the new people. With you write up, I figured it out alot sooner than I would of just playing around with it all myself.

Now, with that said, sometime IMO you take it alittle to far. I know you love A-Trac, and I'm pretty sure we ALL know it. So to make things alittle easier, don't get so mad, or maybe even alittle hurt over things that are said to you. What I would do? is instead of senior member under your name, make it A-Trac king, make your location I love A-Trac, etc.... You get my point. If you want to say something in a thread about it, come in and say A-Trac is better and put this behind it ---> :p. Infact, if I where you, I would just go in pretty much every thread and post that, I think it would be pretty funny. Kind of make fun of your obsession along with everyone else.

So what I'm saying is, I think your a good guy, and your really hear to help people with what you know. And I can respect that part of it, because even though I thinkg TW is getting better, we still get the assholes who just say search noob on each new thread, instead of helping them, or even showing them how to search for it.

So I still give you a  David K :D

This is an excellent right up! Thanks David K and everyone else for the comedic value. I think it does go a little to far sometimes but when it does the good people pull it right back in. Thanks everybody!

You're welcome Eric... and that was nice Dave in PA (DEEVON911), but I see a lot of other posts that are far and away 'too far' (compared to my stuff)... I mean there is so much x rated stuff and profanity here, that to say my posts should go, well is really amazing.

Now, what do you think if I start a fresh, new thread on 'Traction Controls', since this one is so drawn out?

was David K saying that there is "so much x rated stuff and profanity" here at TW in general, or is he saying that there is "so much x rated stuff and profanity" in this one particular topic?

Can't say if given the choice from the factory I wouldn't have opted for a locker in the front BUT I am happy there is at least ATRAC. I do think ATRAC shines in certain scenarios but it is a noisy bastard!
