    Christian,

We used to do this on a weekly basis! We were the first group through Swamp Trail in the sierras with IFS trucks!!! Every other group through up to that point, has been solid axle trucks

You wont hear me say no ;). And just to let you know, Everyone that did this trail was picked for their technical knowledge and ability, and equipped truck. If you dont know what you're doing, you WILL sustain body damage and/or broken drivetrain parts (CV's, Transfer case, Ring and pinion, etc). Tom Ill lead and you can tailgun :)

another trail that can be put on the list is Claw Hammer :D

or we can first try Big Johnson which is considered the easiest trail at The Hammers :)

one of favorite trails out there is called Wrecking Ball, but by all means is not a trail for our tacos :D

going up one of the many similar type obstacles on Wrecking Ball in the MonkeyCrawler

I'm for sure up for it. The deciding factor for me on choosing to do a trail or to not do a trail has always been common sense. My truck is my transportation to and from where I'm going to wheel so if it looks like I'm going to destroy my truck I simply wont do it. I am more responsible than I am prideful. The question here is traction not who wants to cave in the side of their truck, I realize its a slippery slope (no pun intended) between those two things but if all that separates two trucks is a front locker and it can be done without sustaining damage then I would give it a shot.

And just so everyone is clear I really don't have a dog in the fight because as I said I have been able to go everywhere I wanted to, I'm simply offering my truck up as a test vehicle to do a comparison, provided I'm not going to rip the bed off. Not caring about if you destroy your truck is different than saying one gets better traction than the other I hope we can agree on that?

Well, My truck happens to be my Daily Driver. All the difficult trails i have done, its all about the driver and how careful he wants to be when negotiating obstacles. I dont have any trail damage on my truck. In fact, the nickname among my friends is "teflon man"

The very first obstacle, our friend Paul (HBMurphy) tried it with his A-Trac equipped Tacoma, and could not make it. He broke his rear ring and pinion. As Monkeyproof was telling you before, this was his reason for going with a front locker. In fact, he had it in by the very next weekend. So, yes, it is a traction issue. And by the way, i remember you saying pick any trail, and you would run it. So aftershock it is.

Since I have never wheeled out there I would be up for starting off with whatever you guys feel is the easiest trail and moving up from there. It would also be better in my opinion to go a little closer to camping season as I would probably want to stay overnight at least if not two nights. I have a few friends that would want to go also. David K? You in? Come out and support ATRAC!:D

No problem Rob. its all good. Paul (HBMURPHY) and i did 2 different comparision videos. His truck his similarily equipped to mine, and did a video of my truck scaling an obstacle (Locked front and Rear) and one of his doing the exact same obstacle (Rear locked and A-Trac on). His sat there and spun. Mine walked right up. Same spot, everything. David K said he should have sat there and gave it more gas.

Last time we did aftershock we had to winch 2 crawlers and I lost my front diff drain plug on a rock while I was rocking back and forth over a huge rock:p it pretty tore up. Still amazes me when I think about seeing the molten metal embedded in the rocks where the KOH buggie rolled and burnt to the ground near the top

Due to the difficulty of the trail and the experience and equipment that is needed .and taking into the consideration of the remote location of the actual trail I would rather keep the run down to a few hand selected individuals . I would rather not spent the time to strap everyone out and performing trailside repairs. And I also don't want to be responsible for trailside carnage
