Help please! My trac. control light and ABS light are "stuck" on. I read and reread the manual. I tried holding the button down. My brake fluid is fine and full.
what did I do and what can I do to turn the little trac. control symbol and ABS light off?
    Thanks!,

What did you touch or do to turn on the ABS and what other light, exactly?

Thanks for the replies. I did restart it several times after reading the manual and following its directions. It seemed to occur when when I turned on the 4 wheel H knob to pull my light boat out of a lake after fishing. When I got it out about 15 feet I turned the 4H off stopped the truck, tied down the boat and started it and the ABS and Trac control light were on. I called a Toyota dealership and they said it was ok to drive. It seems normal, but..?

I must be lucky because all of my traction system work exactly as they did 45,000 miles ago when the truck was new.., Sorry that there are issues with it for anyone... Really in H2 and H4, the standard settings are fine, nothing to push really. L4 needs one push of the A-TRAC button, then it will always be ready anytime you go into low range. For 2WD only Tacos, the AUTO LSD button will greatly increase your traction if you get into a slip condition... the rest of us can just go into H4.

Now the mystery still is what is the change in 2012? It sounds like they added one more traction level in H4 and made it the standard setting (TRAC with regulation, like in H2) and you push the VSC button to get AUTO LSD (TRAC without regulation)?

As before, if you stop the truck and hold down the VSC button for a few second, then all is turned off (TRAC, VSC, AUTO LSD) unless you do something crazy and VSC will come on automatically.

Also as before, when you are in AUTO LSD (in H2, and maybe in H4 in 2012), the VSC is off until you reach 30 mph.

Wording confusion still exists... for example TRAC OFF is AUTO LSD (in other words going for engine regulated traction control to non-regulated traction control). Press the VSC button briefly while moving or stopped.

VSC OFF is just that plus TRAC OFF and AUTO LSD OFF... open differentials and no stability control... stop moving and hold down the VSC button for 3-5 seconds.

We're getting mixed results in another thread. In 4wd High TRAC On is default (w/ regulation), quick press turns TRAC Off, long press turns TRAC and VSC off.

TRAC Off (quick press), has yet to be thoroughly tested. I'm assuming it's 'open' front/rear, with VSC on.

Thanks for the advice, etc. But, if the dealership was right and fixed it. They say I blew a fuse. They replaced the fuse, checked the system and $31.00 later they problem is laid in my trailer wiring. Wow, I should have checked the fuses, but it just did not seem like a fuse thing. It never affected the old car that usually pulls the trailer.
    Thanks again for your responses.

In 2WD, 'TRAC OFF' is AUTO LSD (TRAC without engine output regulation, ie. strong LSD)

If the 2012 has changed TRAC in H4 from strong LSD to lite LSD (TRAC with regulation), then TRAC OFF should be 'strong' or AUTO LSD on all 4...? VSC remains off to 30 mph... that would get rid of the beeping when our wheels spin, off roading (yea)!

Looks like we need someone with a 2012 to verify, not someone with a 09+ to "assume" :D

I have a 2012! And I do know where a small patch of soft sand is. Plus I can get my wife to Video it. If that sand area is too small to do the tests, I do know where longer stretches of deep sand are, but it might take a few more days until I can do the test.

But to be honest I have skipped some pages of this thread and didn't see the other thread, about getting mixed results. (A Link to that other thread would be nice. Thanks. lol)

But give me a list of all the different settings (and the "secret" settings, LOL :) ) and I will go out and do a test, with video, in sand, of all those different settings on my 2012 4x4.

Nice. The confusion on the 2012 is 4 High, so let's just stick with that for now.

    Try this:
    1. Switch to 4wd High (no buttons pressed) - test traction
    2. Quick press the VSC switch once - test traction
    3. Long press (3 + seconds) the VSC switch - test traction

But Question? Is list supposed to be done in order?

In other words, DO NOT go back to standard 2 wheel before each test? Again in other words DO NOT start from scratch for each test, but do them sequentially, without resetting back to Standard Drive?

Or start from Scratch Standard for EACH test?

I will video the dash, at the same time as the wife videos the wheels from outside and match them up in the video.

Will do it this evening! If it is not raining!

The order doesn't matter, but let's stick with it to be consistent.

You can go to the beginning each time if you want. So, what you'll do is switch it to 2wd in between tests so that each test starts in 4wd High default mode.
    1. Switch to 4wd High (no buttons pressed) - test traction and take note of dash lights.
    2. Switch to 2wd
    3. Switch to 4wd High
    4. Quick press the VSC switch once - test traction and take note of dash lights.
    5. Switch to 2wd
    6. Switch to 4wd High
    7. Long press (3 + seconds) the VSC switch - test traction and take note of dash lights.
