A trailer harness that doesn't suck

There are a lot of threads mentioning that trailer harnesses are a major source of electrical issues, but in a morning of searching, I couldn't find a thread that recommended a good one.

I'm going to be moving in the next few months, and I anticipate that I'll have to rent a small trailer to take some of the remodel trash to the dump, and eventually move my shop tools and some of the larger furniture that's not going to fit in my double cab bed.

For those that have rented trailers with custom rear bumpers- have you had any issues with the renters not renting because of the custom bumper receiver?

I’ve used one of these for several years and it’s been reliable. Super easy plug-in install. 4flat plug. I don’t overpower it with tons of trailer lights, etc….

For your second question: I’ve rented 12x6 open trailers from uHaul a couple of times for large(not heavy) items. They didn’t even look at my truck or the hitch.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I never had problems with custom bumpers then the times I rented a trailer I was using my welding rig.

As far as trailer harness all my vehicles were wired for 7 pin plugs . I had been installing trailer plugs and fixing trailer lights forever it seems.

Then in most cases I used my own light bar on the trailer .

Then just in case I always had my 7 pin to 4 pin adapter that I built.

I kept replacing mine over and over because they would fail. I finally got one that needs its own power source and that seems to have stopped the failures and weird light behaviors. I ended up getting this one and it has been going strong for 3 years so far. The others never lasted that long.
