The manual is not as bad as the auto guys want you to believe. There just jealous.

All the complaints about the manual are not really that bad...

#1 1st gear is too low-

b.s. I Love 1st. great for towing and off roading. truck barely needs gas to take off. which is helpful when your on a hill in traffic because you dont roll back. (or maybe thats just me). if you have taller tires which a majority of people here do anyway it lengthens the gearing a bit.

#2 6th gear is too low-

b.s. you''l never have to shift to pass cars on the highway. rarely on hills, great for towing.. no gear hunting here just set the cruise and go. taller tires?

    #3 Throw out bearing-

40k strong on my 2011 no issues here... do they happen sure but i think it was more of an issue with the older models.

    #4 Rev hang-

I don't really notice it anymore.

    #5 -1 mpg less-

oh not not 1 mpg. yes. that kinda does suck hahaa, but the manual is putting a lil more power to the ground... more power and less mpg is an acceptable trade off i guess. so buy your manual.

The auto is nicer since you drop it in drive and go plus I prefer manuals in sports cars

LoL, Oz-T, you're way too nice. How you didn't go for the jugular on this one is beyond me.

Muddyt4r, British Columbia is not in Britain dude. The only reason I'm not ripping you a new ass hole on this is because you happen to be on the same side of the argument that I'm on.

DCLB is hindered by more wheelbase

Are you continuing DSmooth87s trend of false claims made about the manual by the auto crowd?

Not everyone buys a Tacoma to stricly offroad , I would say a DCSB is hindered with a midget 5' bed

The auto is half a second faster to 60 mph and in the 1/4 mile according to Car and Driver testing:

^It's OK if johnmichael125 knew exactly what he is getting (i.e. TRD imitation beadlocks + BFG AT tires) and holds no illusions about the truck's actual rock-crawling capabilities.

This is true. I'm sure it'll be a great truck for snowy roads and for light offroading (hunting season woods roads, for example), and by all accounts it's a capable beach truck.
Too bad they didn't name it based on that, but I suppose that "Sand Pounder" just doesn't have the ring to it as "Rock Warrior" does....

I wish i could, and I really want to. but it just doesnt make sense... shorter top gearing(higher rpm quicker acceleration) and manual. yet magically slower.... ok ill roll with it
