The salesman was like "Yeah it's a TRD SPORT so you don't even need 4wd because it will climb ANYTHING! It's got the scoop!" :headbang:

A picture of the switch panel would be very useful. But as everybody else said, sounds like an SR5 with the locker. Non TRD.

I had a 2x8x12 dangling out of the back of my tiny little bed yesterday and was feeling a bit inferior driving down the highway.

Oh....and mine fits in the garage. I sleep soundly knowing my short bed is safe and secure in there each night. :proposetoast:

You DCLB guys have to worry about missing rims, tailgates, cat converters, etc 'cause she won't fit in the average garage. :quickdraw:

I saw that and was fully impressed haha. That's a pretty cool setup. I made something "similar" out of wood to haul drywall when I remodeled my garage last year. I won't post pics of that. :anonymous:

Except in very rare cases many years ago...
In a galaxy far, far away...

ONLY THE OFF ROAD TRD has a factory locking rear differential.

4WD is available on all basic models, TRD or NOT

The SPORT TRD was created in 2005 and had a mechanical limited slip rear differential, until 2009.

ALL Tacomas from 2009 + have open differentials with TRAC, electronic, ABS, limited slip traction control. The Off Road TRD continues to have the rear locker... 2WD or 4WD.

A 2WD Off Road with a locker is more able to get past difficult stuff than a 2WD without.
The locker is better than TRAC, but TRAC is better than no TRAC.
Oh, and the setting called "TRAC OFF" and "AUTO LSD" are the same function, and is not TRAC turned off! It is the engine regulation turned off for more power to the TRAC system. Poor naming choice!

Any 4WD is more capable than a 2WD with a rear locker.
A 4WD with a rear locker is more capable than one without.
A-TRAC adds locker-like traction to ALL four wheels, making it more capable to crawl on than all other stock traction choices on the Tacoma. In the Third Gen Tacoma Off Road TRDs, A-TRAC is incorporated into MULTI-TERRAIN SELECT and CRAWL settings on the automatics.

Wikipedia isn't exactly 100% accurate, just look at the brochures for the available options or packages.
