I can't lose the vent. I'm too chubby and NC is too humid. I need that vent!

i took off the hondo for the vent and an using a ProClip until this or the other custom solution are available. ProClip isn't cheap, and it's not perfect, but it gets the phone where you need it and it doesn't block any air.

you dont really lose the vent, you just lose the directional capability.

As a person who constantly fidgets with the direction of the vent to avoid/direct toward my hands/armpits/whole body, this is - personally - a very important feature of the vent.

any interest in selling the hondo mount so I can give it a try and see if losing the directional capability of the vent would or would not work for me?

guess so. thing is i want to keep the ball mount. so you'd need to provide those bits if you use it. but i could let go just the Hondo vent mount if that interests you.

I see you went with the angle right side instead of the closer option, any regrets?

closer, on the left of the head unit, blocks the vent. that's a no-go in north texas in the summer. no regrets for that. however, i am waiting on a better mount solution. the proclip is too big and cumbersome for me. i want the thing on the left but not with that huge piece. so, it's a stopgap and i'm waiting for a couple of the TW guys to come up with something better, this thread being one of them.

i've tried the Hondo/Ram ball, the proclip obviously, and magnetic one some use around here, can't remember the name. IMO they all have significant cons and i don't like any but the Proclip is the most user friendly for now.

@St.Germain I believe the magnetic one you're referring to is the Scoche line of products - looking at that one myself, what are some of the cons that you've heard of?

i had forgotten the name, but it was actually mob-netic. nice pieces but don't fit the 3rd gen, not even with my aftermarket head unit.

    Updates?

    Maybe @Lostsheep has something brewing?

@mesojdm could whip something up in about 2.5 minutes!

I like my hondo mount, but I like my vent more.

I hadn’t checked in on this thread in a while but it appears as though there is still some interest in these so maybe I should revisit the idea. I primarily made that one for my buddy.

@mmc1010 has been running our prototype for about 8 months now and it’s held up very well off-road and on. It’s dealt with long road trips, long desert runs , and rocks so at this point I’d say it’s been battle tested.

What say you guys? Should I try and do a short run of these? It basically comes down to wether or not I can run enough of them to justify my design / programming / setup time; part to part cycle time is pretty quick.

I’m in for one, so long as it’s $50 or less. Any more and I'd need to know more about the product and what you are selling with it.

See post #19 in this thread; those are the only pics I’m aware of.

Also, I don’t want to thread jack here so after reassessing feasibility of this I’ll start my own thread.
